Works for me
I was in town for Howard University's homecoming and needed a hotel. The staff was professional, friendly and approachable. The front desk gave us free wifi, even though I'm not sure that it's free all of the time. I think the hotel could use a few updates in the room, but for a short trip, it was perfection. I will be back.

Money-saving tip:
Short walk from hotel
1) There is a liquor store on the corner if you want to get water, spirits, etc. 2) Metro at Union station is about 2.5 blocks away. It's an easy walk, but don't do it in heels.

We toured Arlington Cemetery, the Capitol building, and walked the National Mall. Super location!
The hotel and location were great. However, we were very surprised to find out what the hotel charges were vs. what Orbitz charged us. We have an itemized receipt from the hotel that shows rates for the two nights totalling 360.49 vs. the 441.57 you charged us. That's a significant difference! You state on your booking confirmation that we would get an automatic cash refund if another customer books the same hotel at a lower price. The couple we were with did just that. We would appreciate the price assurance and a credit for the 81.08.

Great Location
Overall the staff was helpful, friendly and accomodating. Art and Soul is the restaurant in the hotel and we thought they were overpriced but the service and food was good. The hotel location was walking distance from the capitol and the Metro station. We were there when hurricane Irene came through so there were no vending machines at this hotel when we had to stay in all day Saturday. We had a great time just the two of us and cannot wait to go somewhere again.

Business Trip made better because of this Hotel Staff
I have traveled for business for 30 years. This was the best Hotel Staff, Restaurant Staff, Bar Staff and Front Desk Staff I have ever worked with. The Concierge on Friday worked extensively with my wife and located my lost cell phone that I left in a taxi. I didnt have a taxi name or number and she found my phone....incredible. On Saturday the Concierge worked with me in re-arranging my flight and car rental schedules to accomodate me during Hurricane Irene. We were able to leave DC on time and return to Chicago as originally scheduled and needed in light of the Hurricane which shut down the airports....incredible. This service was beyond anything I have ever experienced. Additionally, the Restaurant servers, the bar servers and front desk employees were extremely accomodating. The best service I have ever experienced!

Washington D.C.
This hotel is in a GREAT location...2 blocks from the Capitol, 2 blocks from Union Station. Easy to get to by Metro or taxi. Very safe to walk around outside at night. Courteous and helpful staff. The beds and bedding are AMAZING! Even I slept well here! Very quiet considering the location and pets being allowed in hotel. The rooftop pool is fabulous after a long day of walking!

The restaurants and food court at Union Station are great. I'm a foodie and very picky...many days we ended up back at Union Station because of the variety. And the Metro is right there so if you don't want what's at Union Station...5 minutes and you're in Chinatown.

Nice Hotel But Nothing Special
The hotel was nice. It was clean and the staff was friendly. However, I would expect a more luxurious feel to a 4 star hotel. Overall, I'd say the hotel was just average. I would give it 3 stars.

Need Better Security
I accidentally left a $250 camera I had just purchased (it was still in the bag) in a cab that dropped us off right in front of the hotel where the security camera is. We reported it 5 minutes after the cab pulled out of the parking lot and requested they look on the security camera to get the name and number of the cab and was told "they were unable to access the camera until the next day". When we asked about it the following day they said that "they were unable to see the name of taxi". We know that not to be true. The taxi stopped and let us out right in front of the camera! They did not even look at the camera to try to help us. The security camera is probably not even real!

BAD checking in process but cute hotel
We called on our way to the hotel to confirm our reservation and they said they had no record of our reservation, even though we had a confirmation [...]. We gave them our conf. number and they said they would have it taken care of by the time we got there. Unfortunately that was not the case. We ended up waiting over an hour when we got there[...]. It was a really disappointing way to start our stay. With that being said, the rooms were nice, the hotel was quaint and in close proximity to areas of interest, so we were happy as far as all that was concerned. We would recommend the hotel for people looking for those amenities, but do be weary about the status of your reservation! I will also say that some of the staff were great and very helpful, unfortunately the ones when we checked in just left a bad taste in our mouth.
