No regrets
We wanted a hotel within walking distance to many attractions, and the Liaison was perfect! It took us about five minutes to walk to the Capitol, and from there we could walk to all the other sites on the Mall. For meals we walked three blocks to the Union Station. One night we dined at the Capitol City Brewing Company across the street from the Union Station. At the Union Station you can also catch several tours. We took one to Mount Vernon. The hotel does not have great views, and there is a fire station next door. But we were rarely in our rooms and we asked for rooms away from the sirens so those issues were not big concerns to us. The rooms are small, but very clean (I'm a clean freak)...... and the beds...SUPER! The hotel staff members were friendly and accommodating. We didn't use the rooftop pool, but we did enjoy a beautiful evening sitting and visiting at a table on the roof.

This is well located close to Union Station and Capitol Hill. The rooms are generous, quiet and can be darked with good curtains. Only negative is the "in room" internet is not free.

Hotel service
I went site seeing with friends. The atmosphere I'd nice, but the wifi in the room didn't work the whole time and the electric was going on and off througout the 2nd day. They said they were working on the electrical system in the building, they put a letter on the bed advising of electrical being worked on.

No Affinity for Liaison; Affinia Hotel
Hotel advertises its rooftop pool. On arrival we were told they "invite" community members to use the pool on the weekend. Translation: the pool is used on the w/e to generate bar tab income from the dating crowd. Great for 20-somethings, but not for anyone else, which meant pool was not available for us when we had time in our schedule to use it. Updated, well-appointed but small room. (A/C did not work that well. We had a repairman in; not much better.) No coffee maker in the room and no complimentary coffee in the lobby. No vending machines on floors.

Great location & staff!
The front desk staff was very helpful and knowledgeable about the area. Excellent recommendations during our visit. The restaurant was ok. A little slow at breakfast and the menu was limited. Prices were in-line with the inflated DC restaurant prices. We would stay again and recommend to anyone.

enjoyable
This was our first family vacation with all of us. I thought the location & the staff at the Liaison were great. The only request that I would have is to have a refrigerator, microwave, & coffee maker in the room. That is the one thing we missed the most. We did get a coffee maker, but had to request for coffee every day. Other than that I thought the motel was great.

Adequate hotel, decent location
The hotel is adequate. Reasonably spacious room, good beds and shower. Erratic internet ($10/day). No on-site coffee, snacks, fruit. Dark, dingy and noisy lobby, snooty staff. LOUD pool party on Sunday night. Overall the hotel thinks it is highly stylish and it is actually shabby and dark. Upstairs corridors are narrow, dark, cramped and not fresh-smelling. In our room the bathroom door would not close, the hot water faucet was broken, and there was no fan exhaust in the bathroom. Also no coffeemaker in the room, and no vending machine for a soda. We went to the Hyatt across the street for coffee and breakfast, or an evening snack, which was bright, welcoming, accommodating, friendly.

Fantastic price for the location
The staff was welcoming and helpful. No request was to big or to small. If they couldn't complete the task, they found someone who could. The beds made it for a good night's rest. The location, for our family, does not get much better. They do have an adult only Sunday night party on the top floor,by the pool.If you are into that kind of thing,it would work for you.For family travellers it does not.Not a big deal. The fire department next door did not keep us up at night at all.The thing for family travellers that made it difficult was trying to find some place to eat that was reasonable in price. We did find a small market up by Union Station and a Subway as well. They should offer microwaves,as this would make it another option. They did supply us with a fridge, just make sure you ask when reserving the room. After the 1st day, they did get us a coffee machine, which being an early riser, was great. However, I had to remind the cleaning staff most days to put new bags of coffee in the room. When asked they brought it up right away,so not a big deal. The Starbucks across the way does not open until 7am.Very strange hours. We found the liquor store a couple doors down has good coffee and a decent deli upstairs. We saw other hotel guests with children getting breakfast over there in the mornings.Decent price for D.C. The rooms were very clean. Some of the wall paper was peeling off, which seemed strange for such a hotel.Take some time to see what the hotel offers in the rooms. We missed out on a couple of things as we did not read the packet of info until later. My children loved the T.V.'s.The gym was clean, had what you needed and open 24hrs. We would for sure stay here again,if we were able to get the same kind of price. We booked months in advance and it did pay off. The location was great and secure.

Dining tip:
Short walk from hotel
If you have children&for a decent start in the morning, check out the liquor store deli a couple doors down.It opens early and is doable for D.C.,price wise.Be aware if you are travelling with more than 3 of you, sometimes it is cheaper to take a taxi instead of the metro.
