Super water view

We booked a room with balcony and water views and were delighted to have 180 degree views. The hotel is very bland and all we could smell when entering was chlorine either from the pool or over zealous cleaning. Restaurant is expensive.

family get away

location was nice - better if summer. books, site, signs in lobby all listed game room but there was not one. staff where kinda grumpy. did not seem overly friendly at front desk and pool/gift shop. also no fires in fireplaces which would make it seem cozy. had to ask them to light one.

In summer try outdoor cash only eateries like Bill's for fresh, inexpensive seafood.

Beautiful facility with the rudest staff

Most beautiful facility on the CT Shore with a private beach and pool. For the waterfront location alone we might go back, but do not eat at their restaurant. They gave us a hard time first at cocktail hour for wanting to eat outside on a gorgeous evening. Then at breakfast they wouldn't let us eat outside so we left and had to go to dunkin donuts and brought it to the beach. We complained and the food and beverage director have us a free lunch and apologized after we complsined. Lunch at bar was fine but the main restaurant is terrible and the restaurant manager is the rudest human being I have ever met. They burned my $33 filet mingon requested medium and served black and charred it was embarrassingly awful. Them they demanded we pay and brought a new steak 30 minutes later and looked at us like we had 10 heads when we said we didn't want it. Every table around us had an issue with their food. Not one apology, so rude. Worst dining experience I have ever had. Having to go offsite for good with very little in the area really interfered with beach/ pool time and ruined our experience.

Do not eat at Water's Edge unless you would like to pay $75 a person and be treated like something on the bottom of their shoe. Cafe Routier right down the street has no ambiance but has exquisite food including local Stonnington Scallops, excellent wine selection and friendly staff.

RUINED MY DAUGHTER'S WEDDING - MOST IMPORTANT DAY OF HER LIFE 9/7/12

I could not in any good conscience recommend Water Edge especially for any life events - They were instrumental in ruining my daughter's wedding day because of their extreme lack of communication, customer service, and overall performance. The wedding/ceremony was scheduled from 5:30 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. - During the reception, the Banquet Captain Maria continually went to my daughter with problems rather than approaching her parents. A guest came to me at 9:30 p.m. because their table was still waiting to be served. The groom's mother's table was served cold meals. There was at least an hour delay between the salad and the main course basically leaving us less than an hour to do the Father/Daughter, Mother/Son, throwing of the bouquet and cake cutting which meant there would be no time for the guest to enjoy themselves. Not only was the service horrendous but no one on Waters Edge communicated that they were delayed. What took the cake though was after the fact they refused to take any responsibility from the terrible wedding planner, Nancy Steele all the way to Chris Barstein the General Manager who now 11 days out from this event, we have not heard a single word from him. Waters Edge is a beautiful place but contains absolutely no customer service, professionalism - Make no mistake about it they will not handle your most precious moments with any regard or care. Extremely dissatisfied and sadden Mother of the Bride!!!! SHAME OF WATERS EDGE FOR ACTING IN SUCH A DISRESPECTFUL, HEARTLESS MANNER. THE OWNER SHOULD BE MADE AWARE OF THIS!!!!!

Overpriced/Loud/Rude Stuaff

We stayed here for one night with our two children in what should have been an amazing water view room with a great balcony for the outrageous price we paid (over $400). Instead, the staff was just awful, the place is SO loud with thumping music from either the wedding reception or bar downstairs until nearly 2am, and the food was mediocre at best. There's nothing more irritating than an overpriced "resort" with horrendous customer service...they don't even seem to care that people were not happy with the service. It may be one of the few resort/large hotels in this part of CT on the shore which may be why they get away with continued bad service, but if word gets out that it's this bad, I hope something changes...it could be a wonderful place. But ... it's NOT.

Massage Therapist flirted w/ my husband!

I can't believe the disgust of a person working there flirting with my husband! Her name is [...] and she is a massage therapist. How unprofessional! She seduced my husband and then she gave him her phone number. I did confront her and of course she denied it. I will never go to this place again! I did contact management and they said they would speak with her and possibly fire her as this was not the first encounter they dealt with [...]. YUK!

Amazing atmosphere... So relaxing!

I took a mini vacation-retreat to waters edge in their off season... Mid-October. The weather was still great to enjoy the beach with a cozy sweater and a good book. The scenery is out of this world, the staff is accommodating and the rooms are beautiful especially if you get an ocean view. I don't know what the place is like during the busy summer and wedding seasons, but mid-week in October it's hard to find a place that beats waters edge. I had an amazingly relaxing time. Will definitely go back.
