Fairfield Inn by Marriott New Haven Wallingford

The staff, front desk, housekeeping, breakfast crew, couldn't have been any nicer or helpful. They went out of their way to make us comfortable and feel welcome. We stayed 10 nights and couldn't have made a better choice for a hotel. The hotel is about 5 blocks from Interstate 91 and approximately 1- 2 miles from all kinds of restaurants and shopping.

The complementary breakfast was great. The staff was friendly and competent. Best cup of tea I have ever had at a hotel.

Checking into my hotel was a very stressful experience. The man behind the counter told me I didn't have a room, and proceed to not listen to me or stay focused on me. He kept ignoring me and helping other customers and telling me that I didn't have a room and that they had no available beds either. He was rude to me and my guest and was not willing to assist me or my needs as a customer. After giving him my information many times, and even pulling up my account on the computer he still did not care. [...] I also was upset at the fact that this man did not apologies to me or guest and did not even give me some sort of complementary hotel gift or free item after my troubles. I also had to ask him about breakfast and wake up calls, when he offered it to everyone else. The next morning I was disappointedwith the breakfast selection. Having a food allergy and not being able to eat half the items that were on the small table was also hard. I was looking forward to some sort of hot meal where I could speak to someone to get something that I could eat. I have an allergy like many others, and it was surprising to me that they didn't show or ask me how it was or if I could even have those items. I choose this hotel because it was close to where I needed to be but next time would choose one of the other many hotels around that location

Stayed at this hotel to attend a family celebration at Meriden. The room and hallways were clean and spotless. The staff was attentive. The parking lot is busy and people don't look as they are moving in /out of the cars-do drive carefully. At the breakfast room they have two do-it-yourself waffle stations, muffins, bread, milk, cereals, but they don't have scramble eggs. They have a mini fridge in which there is some quiche and frozen English muffins with bacon, cheese and egg. You have to use the microwave to cook them.

We checked in at 5 P.M., 2 hours after the stated check-in time. The room was not ready: beds un made, bathroom not cleaned, nothing cleaned since the last occupant. They made up the room at 5:15 and were not finished until 6 P.M. We had to leave. We were expecting a microwave oven and a refrigerator that [...] wrote on the confirmation, we had neither. Also, the TV didn't have a DVD player and was completely outdated.

All went well as planned.

Newly renovated, extremely clean rooms, superbly comfortable beds, and exceptionally friendly and helpful staff made this the perfect place to stay while visiting our child at Yale for parents' weekend. Close but not too close to Yale and also to Sleeping Giant State Park for a day of family hiking.

Stayed overnight while attending a friend's wedding. The decor was outdated (i.e., the '70's called and they want their furniture and carpeting back), but the room was very clean, the hotel was quiet, and the pillowtop mattress bed was very comfortable. Decent breakfast. Nearest restaurant was about 3 miles away.
