great launching pad to visit New York

We stayed here, just to make it east to get to the Bronx and the subway, a short 30 minute drive. We took the subway in to Lower Manhattan to visit the 911 Memorial. There also is a train in Stamford, a couple miles away.

ok by my standards

I was only in the Stamford area for one night. Due to last minute booking the hotel I normally stay was booked. For a one night stay I found the hotel, clean, orderly and the bed comfortable. Breakfast left much to be desired. But for one night it met my needs.

Good Stay

My friends & I stayed for Jerry Springer. It was a clean room. The breakfast could've been better. Overall, I would stay there again. It was a really good deal.

The three most important assets

The three most important assets that this motel has to offer are: 1) Close to Stamford RR station at an affordable price 2) Above average breakfast buffet for this class of motel 3) Reliable free WiFi in most rooms (we had to change rooms to get it but once we had it, it worked very well at all times) The immediate neighborhood is not the best and the motel is frequented by a lot of long-haul truckers so it was occasionally difficult to find parking after 10pm but we still enjoyed our stay overall. The motel is run by a very sympathetic and dedicated staff who are always friendly and helpful.

OK, but problems

OK for cheap accomodations. Relatively clean. Problems with tv. Also, my room did not have a fridge or a microwave while others did.

Super Hotel in Stamford

We always stay here on our trips to NY. On weekdays we take the short drive down to the Bronx, park the car, and take the subway (#6 train) into Manhattan. On weekends we drive in. Room is a good size, very clean and quiet, comfortable bed, adequate shower, and the AC cools the room is quickly and is quiet. This time our room is facing the highway, but the room is soundproofed and we hear no highway noise. So much less expensive and a much nicer experience than staying in Manhattan.

I mean, it's a Super 8...

I mean, it's a Super 8, so you can't expect too much. It was actually fine for what it was. The free WiFi was a really nice touch that you don't get at a lot of places. There were a couple of things that needed attention, like the safe that was open but locked so we couldn't put anything inside, or the remote control with bad batteries. On the plus side, the hotel had those curved shower rods that are in my top-ten of simple but awesome inventions, but unfortunately the curtain rod was partially pulled down so the shower curtain wouldn't stay open and only covered the middle third of the shower. Nothing acceptable from a 4-star establishment, but, you know, Super 8. What was a bit annoying, though, is when we mentioned it on our way out after the first night's stay, we figured when we got back that night those issues would be taken care of, but they weren't. We were only there for 2 nights, so I don't know if they would've been taken care of eventually. So okay, maybe the curtain rod and safe needed a specialist to come out to fix, but even the batteries weren't addressed. Would've been three stars, but because of that: 2.

Google thinks the address is actually a block away. Keep going another block (it's a one-way street in the right direction) and it's there.

Affordable and good value

An overall good value, well kept and well landscaped. Lighting at desk could be improved; insufficient for working.
