Stamford Plaza Hotel and Conference Center

To me, the hotel appeared to be in decline,especially from a maintenance and staff perspective. I noticed a good bit of things like broken tiles,loose railings,shabby carpeting,all in the lobby. Exercise equipment was old and some didn't work. Front desk staff were pleasant & helpful, but they were the only staff i saw at all. Staff appeared to have been downsized. $2.50 for a cup of coffee to take to your room,silly & cheap,when it's usually complementary.

We stayed there a few years ago when it was a Sheraton. What a change. There is no cheerful restaurant for breakfast as before--"complimentary" breakfast consisted of the very bare minimum: coffee, OJ, and individually wrapped pastries, all on a cart in the lobby. What's now odd is that off the lobby, through the door marked "West Wing", is a new Holiday Inn Express with a nice hot complimentary breakfast. To me, it seemed that the Stamford Plaza was just a conference & meeting wing with rooms and a bar. The rooms apparently had been renovated, very modern. So modern and sparse, in fact, is that there are no towel bars in the bathroom. It's shower only with a partial glass partition. No door. All in all, it may be a good price, but for comfort and convenience, I'm definitely staying at the Holiday Inn Express in the "West Wing" next time, even if it does cost a little more.

THIS IS NOT A FOUR STAR HOTEL, IT IS OLD, AND IN MUCH NEED OF UPDATING, FROM PEELING PAINT ON WALLS, TO LACK OF FURNITURE OF DECATORATIONS IN LOBBY, OVER RATED AND WAY TO MUCH MONEY FOR WHAT IT IS WORTH, STAY AT AMOTHER HOTEL !!!

This is NOT a four star hotel, Far from it!! Hotel is in much need of updating, It had little to none feeling of warmth, or comfort to a traveler, Room had peeling paint, Furniture is cheap, and uncomfortable, Front desk staff could have beem warmer, and more helpful, wIll NOT stay at this hotel again, WIll stay at the Holiday Inn Express next door!!

Front desk staff took a very long time to check me in and asked me if I was in the right hotel. He had zero customer service skills. The housekeeper knocked on my door 3 times to see if we wanted housekeeping but we were checking out that day. The staff should know this but apparently they do not communicate with the front desk? After a 10 hour flight and no sleep for 25 hrs, this was unforgivable from my standpoint. Room could have been cleaner too! I would recommend you to pay a little more and go to the Marriott hotel!

The staff at the hotel were very friendly and accommodating.

Usually i stay every weekend in Stamford @ the Marriott or 0 Degree with free parking and breakfast buffet. but last week they were all booked. Stamford Plaza is ok i would give three and a half stars...

I usually stay at Marriott and Zero Degree every weekend but cant get any room last weekend. Everything was good, room are comfortable and nice only thing is a little bit over price.

Synopsis - there are plenty of other hotels in the area that are newer and nicer. There is no need to stay here unless you are attending a convention here. Stamford Plaza Hotel has a great "atrium" and a decent gym. Walking into the room is like walking back in time a bit. The old school TV is about 20 ft from the bed and there were cigarette burns in the rug. Not a good sign. But at least the bed was clean and the linens looked good. The next morning I realize my breakfast card was never picked up. Again, not a good sign. The following morning at 8am, I am awakened by a gospel singer. Apparently a church had rented the convention space. It is all you could hear throughout the hotel.

The hotel looked to be upscale but beneath the surface was anything but. The pool area looked like it was last updated in the seventies. The room was very noisy with hall traffic, and the electrical plug pulled out of the wall when I went to unplug my cell phone. We were also charged six dollars to watch an hour episode of the deadliest catch, not to mention the ten dollor parking fee.
