Run!!!!!!

This hotel is very very old. My fists observation was the dirty carpet in the lobby. I asked to look at the rooms and tried to get out of the deal. When I found out that it was nonrefundable, I stayed. The room was gloomy, but adequate. There was a stain on the floor. Elevators are clunky and scary. No TV in breakfast room and the breakfast left a lot to be desired. Frozen Waffles and only juice was the orange. The bathroom was clean. I could tell that the workers had recauked the tub.and the bottom of the tub was yellow. The bath and the TV was the best part of the room. Better deals North on I-95.

Room was Perfect

The room was clean, quiet and peaceful. The evening staff member was a bit grumpy but the gal in the morning went way above and beyond to solve a VERY minor issue. Breakfast was good. Nothing fancy but certainly plenty of food.

Family reunion

We were in Stamford for a family reunion and stayed five nights. The hotel is centrally located and walking distance from the mall, restaurants and downtown. The train station is a few blocks away for easy access to NYC. The room was clean and spacious. The towels were more fluffy than most similar hotels. Wireless internet access was very good and easy to use. The room AC was somewhat inadequate and the continental breakfast was less than average. Staff were friendly and accommodating and allowed us to extend our checkout time one hour. Overall, it was a great value relative to other options in Stamford.

Inexpensive, close in, good value

A West Point Grad's wedding. First time to Stamford. Enjoyed the town, enjoyed the hotel as it met the need. Two suggestions: The AC/Heat unit was a little noisy even when it "wasn't running", which I could not figure out why. The bathroom, although we were in a non-smoking room, smelled of cigarette smoke. Neither the wife or I smoke and we both have very good/sensitive noses so most may not pick up on the odor, but both of us did.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Very nice mall for shopping/dining a short 4 block walk, 4 min drive from the hotel. Front desk provided directions and reccomendations. A step above fast food, Cozi's was a Very nice, quick eatery and then a stroll across the street to a multilevel mall with BIG anchor stores on each end. The wife was VERY happy.

A Perfect Spot

This was our stopping point on a trip to New York City around Christmas time. The price is an excellent value since it comes with a room furnished with modern amenities, a courteous, professional staff, a sizeable continental breakfast and a great location. It is not a five-star luxury hotel, but unlike competitors in the same price range, it is obvious that the Amsterdam strives to be.

Sightseeing tip: Short drive from hotel

New York City is right down the road. Unless you feel that you MUST stay in Manhattan and drop four times as much money on accomodations, stay at the Amsterdam and either drive into the city (right around 30 minutes) or there is the option of taking a train.
