Where CT meets Bollywood

As you may have guessed from the title, this hotel (motel, really) is owned and operated by a large Indian family. There is a very good Indian restaurant located on premises (Thali) and the room amenities are reminiscent of those we have found in hotels in India. Unfortunately the hotel is currently in a state of perpetual renovation and this seems to have added stress to the operation both financially and cosmetically. Nevertheless, one would be hard pressed to find accommodations in Fairfield county that are as economically priced and still livable. Over the years the breakfast buffet has suffered (they no longer have the ever-popular waffle maker and it is hard to find any decent yogurt in the morning) but still adds some value to the experience. On the plus side, the rooms all have single-cup coffee makers, microwaves and refrigerators so you can eat breakfast in your room and use the cups, plates, and utensils from the buffet. You still need to make your toast in the buffet - no toasters in the rooms. They also provide the occasional hard-boiled egg but you have to be fast… The bed had a great mattress but the pillows were annoying - either too hard or too soft. The A/C was good but rather noisy - good for those who need some white noise to get to sleep at night. The towels are plentiful but most resemble heavy gauze material with a terry texture. The bar soap is good only for one or two showers before turning into a slippery mess, they are that thin. We had a start when the faucet control handle came off in our hands but were relieved to find that it could be easily re-fit to the faucet. We did not use the cable TV at all but the WiFi was excellent - reliable and good throughput. The staff are pleasant and responsive for the most part but one may find it occasionally hard to communicate if one has had no experience on the sub-continent of Asia. The location itself is great, being a fairly short distance to I-84 and right on CT Rte. 7 so it is a convenient place from which to cover upper Fairfield county and even part of Westchester. The setting is virtually rural and there is an excellent roadside hot dog stand (Dog Daze Cafe) just down the road (for those who enjoy a good tube steak once in a while) and they also sell farm fresh fruits & veggies in the summer. In summary, this hotel is one that I swear every time I stay there that I will never go back and yet this was the 4th or 5th visit I have made there - there's just something about it that keeps me coming back!! :D Maybe it's the low price or just the subtle Indian ambience but it has its own charm in spite of its many rough edges.

Dog Daze Cafe - roadside hot dog stand; nothing short of excellent!! Orem's Diner - has been a fixture in the area for generations; great food in the classic Greek diner tradition. Great place for brunch on weekends!

Convienient location if going to the Ridgefield Playhouse.

We stood here because we were seeing a concert close by. The room was not that clean. I saw a few dead bugs and slept on top of the blankets for my own reasons. The staff were not overly courtesy. I asked for extra towels (because the room only contained hand towels) and the staff member gave me the impression that I was bothering him. The price made up for the lack of expectations I had. Overall, a good value if you need a place to stay a night, but I wouldn't stay more then that.

The Ridgefield Playhouse is close by. Just be careful driving there as the road it is on is extremely windy and narrow. Two lanes. DRIVE VERY SLOW! Make sure you have directions to and back because we got lost and at night time it was very dark due to no street lights. A very confusing commute.

Days Inn Ridgefield CT

Staff was not courteous. At arrival we were billed an additional $20 per night for each of our two sons, coming to $90 some for the two nights AND the desk guy acted as if I had tried to sneak them in, although I'd been asked only how many beds, not now many people. Rooms were kind of gross, towels were thin and STAINED, and despite the extra charge there were only two of them. Had to beg for more. On the second morning, three of them showed up at the door around 9am demanding to know when we would be leaving. Checkout time was 11, that seemed a bit unnecessary. Two tiny paper cups, plus 2 paper coffee cups. Breakfast was a few stale items, no fruit, no trays so no easy way to carry it back to the room. Trying to say something nice: One young man, assume the owner's son, was smiling and did go get more of the towels for me. I have heard that the food in the restaurant is good, but we did not eat there. That's all. No, I would NOT stay there again and would not recommend it to someone else.

Nice Place to stay on a budget

Clean room. Safe neighborhood. Free breakfast is OK. Stay away from the waffles. Last year they were sour and this year the waffle iron didn't cooperate. The room is small, but then I don't mind, I just need a bed to sleep. The heater was in an alcove in the room which made it cycle on and off constantly. Temperatures therefore fluctuated from cool to warm all night long. Everything worked in the room and wifi reception was great. Not a bad place to stay if you're on a budget, traveling on business for a day or two and book with an online hotel service.

Stay away from the Ritz Asia for dinner. They're an asian fusion restaurant a few miles north of the hotel and while the food is outstanding at $25 per plate, they will charge you for refills on soda! $5.00 for two glasses and they don't skimp on ice!

subpar

My fiancée and I booked this hotel for a getaway. Little did we know it would be the worst hotel stay we've ever had. As soon as we checked in and went to the room, it was hot and had a weird smell. The AC unit was like a window unit and was either too cold or too hot. So we kept it at too cold. The bathroom light bulb rarely worked so we showered in the dark at times. Lost water pressure in the shower lots of times. They only did room service if you called them and even then they still didn't come. We had to call three times after being there for 2 days out of a 6 night stay and when they did come they didn't change the sheets. We know this bcuz we had spilled juice in the bed earlier and after room service the juice stain wad still on the sheet even though they remade the bed. The service here was awful. Also no closeby restaurants unless you travel miles to Norwalk or Danbury. Not worth it.

Horrible

First of all the room was hot. Then the ac unit would either be too cold or too hot. Bathroom light hardly worked. We took showers in the dark alot in our 6 night stay there Had to call for housekeeping 3 times in one day to get them to make the bed and they didnt even change the sheets! The juice we accidentally spilled the night before was still on the sheet AFTER they "cleaned the room". I will never stay here again.. Only thing that i enjoyed was being with my fiance..but that had absolutely nothing to do with this hotel!
