Good value for the business traveler

Clean, quiet and efficient - this hotel is what you would expect from the best in this chain. The room was well appointed and comfortable with a microwave, refrigerator, and coffee maker. The staff was courteous and responsive. It was the perfect location close to many restaurants and a quick drive to my client's offices. I would recommend this for any single traveler to the area. It would also be a great family on vacation hotel with good value for the price. I did not take advantage of the indoor pool but its appearance was inviting and would certainly be popular with the kids.

Check out the Penny Lane Pub. The crab cakes were excellent, the wine selection was good, and the staff were attentive.

POOR MANAGEMENT HANDLING OF CRISIS

We stayed at this hotel while attending a wedding nearby, Rooms were a bit dirty but I overlooked it as it was a joyous occasion that brought us here and it was only a one night stay. While at the wedding, we heard from other guests that the hotel lost power due to a car accident nearby. We head back to the hotel to find the entire hotel pitch black. While this was an unfortunate situation that was somewhat upsetting, the real issue was with how management (or lack thereof) handled it. When we got to the lobby, the man at the desk told us there were no flashlights and we had to find our way to our room in the pitch black. We were in the very last room on the first floor. The had no emergency lights or backup generators (except for the bar which had full power from a generator) While fumbling through an unfamiliar room in the pitch black, and sleeping with no air on a very hot night was not fun, what was more disturbing was waking up to restored power but no hot water. Decided to take a cold shower before hitting the road only to have the water turn dark brown midway through. Could not even brush our teeth. The front desk would not offer us any recourse nor did they have water available to the guests to help with basic necessities like brushing teeth or taking meds. In fact, their attitude was less than helpful. THe lady at the desk told us to call the next day to speak with the manager (who was not to be seen through the entire crisis) - I called Brad the next day and he basically told me it was not his problem and they would not refund our room rate or even discount it. He was very nasty and said he was not going to lose any money since CLP would not reimburse him. He refused to give me the owner/presidents name or info, I called Choice Hotels customer service department and they basically said they would be happy to lodge a complaint and notify the manager (which was of no help since Brad the manager was not willing to discuss any recourse) I would never choose a Choice Hotel as now I know they do not stand behind their name. I hope I am never faced with staying in that area again but if I do, it will most definitely not be at the Comfort Inn. They did not provide us with basic essentiasl needed and despite it being a situation beyond their control, how they handled it was horrific. They did not put their guests needs or safety first. They did not provide us with a pleasant stay yet had no problem charging our credit cards the full rate for our stay. If staying in this area, I would say - AVOID THIS HOTEL.

would not stay again

the hotel is severely overpriced, marginally clean, and the toilet didn't operate properly. The refrigerator was broken. I expected a whole lot more

Exactly what you expect

The people were very, very nice. The bed was sort of like a rubber covered morgue drawer and nothing in the room worked - remote to shower - but the staff was great about it.

Nice time.

I think the dining area needs improving, The atmosphere is not that great. They should move the dining area over where the bar is. And the bar should be moved close to the pool table.

Very Good Value

[...] was the best, he offered maps, and suggestions even invited us to the lounge later if we felt like it. But the overnight person was not as friendly. He was at the computer and I asked to use a computer to check my e-mails and he said that there were no other computers, after awhile, he asked if I wanted to use the one he was on, I said yes please and he was not very happy about it. I found out later, that the computer I was on, was the one for the guests.
