Goof Location, Odd Spaces

The hotel is near the Yale campus and the dining district. It is obviously a renovated building and thus has some odd spaces here and there, rather than a standard hotel layout. There was a wine and cheese reception each afternoon which was a relaxing touch. Staff was always pleasant. The elevators were either slow or broken during my stay.

Pretty nice

Very well decorated lobby, very friendly staff. I had no qualms. The rooms were not super modern but definitely not out-dated. Very clean. Workout room was so-so. Enjoyed my time there, great value.

Clean, upscale, comfortable

The rooms were clean and well-appointed. Free WiFi is a major plus, and hard to find at nicer hotels. My interactions with the staff were efficient and very nice. My room was smaller than many hotel rooms where I've stayed, but it did not feel cramped as a solo traveler and would have been fine for a couple.

Dining tip: In Hotel

The in-room coffee wasn't very good, but they offered 12oz disposable coffee cups. The complimentary coffee served in the lobby was reasonably good, but they only offered 6oz cups. Take the room cup to get lobby coffee!

Good Renovation

Was there a weekend in 2009, and now found the place much improved, including the lobby and room amenities much modernized. Beyond true luxury items, I'm not sure what the Omni close buy could offer for same money. The area has improved with a couple of great bars and restaurants. If Yale is the destination, location is the best of the lot.

Surprise in the City!

I chose this hotel in downtown New Haven for its location and recent renovation. It was very lovely! The lobby is very different and beautiful, amenable to socializing with groups of people. The room was large, clean, newly refurbished, and comfy. The big surprise was a complimentary wine & cheese social hour from 5 to 6 pm, which no one at the desk mentioned when I checked in. It was lovely, and I met a nice woman to chat with while waiting for my husband to return from a business meeting. The only downside is that you have to pay extra for parking, but that can't be helped in a city location. Great restaurants were within walking distance, even on a cold night. I highly recommend this hotel!

Lovely tapas restaurant nearby - delicious, but no sign out front so make sure you know address!

The best

This is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at. The rooms are huge and very clean. The hotel is just rennovated, so it looks awesome! From 5-6 they have wine tasting event every day, they serve fruits and cheese. Even though the airport is 15 minutes away I couldn't find a taxi, so I was running late. The reception called every taxi company, was very polite and supportive and found me a taxi. I really loved the hotel

Exceeded Expectations

Everyone was friendly. The hotel is completely upgraded, modernized. The bed was comfortable. My only issue was the noisy HVAC system. I had learned to let it hum me to sleep! All in all it was a great experience.

Didn't honor guaranteed rez - do NOT book or stay here

Tried to check-in at midnight after a long day of travel and surly desk clerk wouldn't honor my guaranteed reservation (the kind where if I didn't show up I would be charged). I had reserved the highest category room and was sent to a lesser quality hotel with the lowest level of room. Don't even think about reserving or staying here.
