Over rated hotel

This should not be a 3 star hotel. This place is pretty much a dump and nasty. It's old and falling apart. I only paid $60/night and feel I overpaid. I'm not sure a 2 or 1 star hotel could possibly exist if the local department of health exists. If you stay here, be sure you know the rooms are very run down and gross. Entry lobby is fine.

4 day stay

Greek Olive has good selection for room and dining. Small lounge for night. Doing house construction so i had to find a place to stay. Tried different hotels, like this one for location to work and price. I like the waffles you can make in the morning. Too cold right now to use the pool outside. Easy access to the highway.

Budget Hotel serving the purpose

Hotel is a budget hotel compared to nearby hotels. It is in the city, with a shuttle service to anywhere in New Haven, provides reasonable breakfast, with a good italian restaurant nearby, clean, non smoking facility. AC/heating works a little bit noisy. for the ones who is not familiar (like us) it may be preblem to sleep.

Decent hotel; unacceptable maintenance

This is my second time staying at this hotel. The first visit in November,'10 was fine but this latest stay in January,'11 was problematic. The hotel was completely booked with a number of rowdy high school kids and the staff was clearly overwhelmed. I had the misfortune of getting a room with a malfunctioning toilet and bathroom fan, but the hotel was unable to offer me another room. What was irritating were the repeated reassurances from the front desk that a maintenance worker was promptly on his way to my room to repair the bath. No one ever showed after several calls over two days and the issue was never resolved. No one from the front desk followed up with the issue and I'm not sure whether I was being deceived or whether there were massive communication problems between the front desk and maintenance. The hotel has a lot to recommend it, particularly the free shuttle service around New Haven, but this visit was disappointing nevertheless.

Not too great

I came in with low expectations and they sure were met. The staff at the front desk was great and got me signed in very quickly. I then proceeded to the elevator to go to my room and right away noticed the lack of care taken in keeping the elevator looking presentable. I then got to my floor and noticed an odd, smoky smell and loud neighbors down the hall. When I got into my room the heat was off, when I turned it on I had to raise the level of the tv to drown out the loud unit. The bathroom was not very pleasant, it lacked cleanliness and needed some updates and repairs. I will say that I was happy with the restaurant and bar attached to the hotel, the drinks helped me sleep on that rock they call a bed.

Good location for the price

I stayed in a suite that was very reasonably priced. The hotel was very decent. The complimentary breakfast was far better than any other hotel I have ever stayed in. A good pick if you are not looking for something over the top, but want to be comfortable, and not in a hotel that is under rated.

Nice, clean, basic

The hotel was nice, clean, and basic - no frills, but nice front desk staff. They also had a computer and printer that could be used in the lobby free of charge. The continental breakfast was somewhat lacking - not much there, and didn't seem very fresh. They did provide a free shuttle to Yale campus as well, which was very helpful. Bottom line, I'd recommend it for the price.
