We spent two nights here for a long weekend in Mystic. The hotel was perfectly fine - clean, affordable, good location - but nothing special. I appreciated how easy it was to walk to Old Mystic Village and the Aquarium, and it was an easy
mile-long walk past the Seaport to get into town. Right off the highway, it was also very easy to drive to the beach from here. The pool was small, but nice, and the man at reception was very friendly. Our room looked out onto a graveyard, which I don't think anyone else here mentioned. Overall, a good price and a good location. I'd stay here again.
Hotel features (5 = best, 1 = worst):
Long walk from hotel
Getting in to town is about a 30 minute walk, but it's flat and you pass some great things on the way - cute shops, the Seaport, ice cream stands. It's a nice way to see a part of Mystic you might otherwise just drive through quickly.
I made a reservation two months in advance with a request for a smoking room. When I arrived the man behind the desk said there was no smoking room for me, he only had one, and it was taken. He would put me in another room. I said fine, and I
would smoke in the room.
The man was nasty, told me the person in the room I reserved was there for eight weeks (which I doubt)...If he knew the room was taken, he should have gotten touch with me. Rude, and nasty... When you own a hotel, you should be able to get along with people. And you shouldn't be so cocky when there is another hotel right across the parking lot. I am actually a travel agent, and would never put anybody there. I would talk them out of it, and I have.
