Howard Johnson Hotel - Milford/New Haven

The staff at front were on personal cell phones not taking care of customers. Walk to rooms was up 7stairs to first floor and elevator in back of building. Pool area not clean. We visited our families which was great and picked this hotel for location. The trip was great the hotel didn't compare toany of our other trips north. We were definitely disappointed. We usually go through a travel person this was our first time using Orbitz.

When I arrived to check in, I waited over 5 min for someone to come to the front desk to check us in. I did not get an apology. It is cheap but service to me is everything.

Two things could have made the trip that much more enjoyable: 1-Not having to walk so far, plus a flight of stairs to get to the elevator. 2-I had a suite with no microwave. Other than that good for a business trip and it gets the job done. I Would Stauy There Again...

We were in Milford to visit with our son. His apartment was only 1 mile down the road from the hotel, so it was very convenient. We enjoyed the pool, and took a daily 1/2-hour swim for exercise which was very nice. The bed was comfortable, but we did request extra pillows for sleeping. The only thing missing from the room was a refrigerator,so we could not keep things cold except for using the ice maker down the haul. There was a diner right next door, so very convenient for breakfast and snacking. All in all, it was a good stay, and we would definitely stay there again.

When arrived found that the continental breakfast was canceled as of our first day at the hotel (howard johnson website still said they have it). Stairwell between floors had strong mold smell (and black spots throughout) Room was as expected 4 walls, clean bed, etc. Only question was why there was an ash tray in a non smoking room. In all the room was comparable to low cost rooms, but the facility needed a top to bottom cleaning.

Hotel is old and in need of an update. Our room was "non-smoking", said so on the door, yet there was an ashtray in the room and holes in chairs and blanket from cigarettes. There was not a comfortable place on the mattress People were pleasant though and it was convenient for us. But if we travel to this area again, we'll try another hotel.

A good to stay with kids at a reasonable rate. The pool was an added attraction for children. Rooms are quite roomy.

Upon arrival to the hotel it was great, nice neighborhood and nice customer service. when we got to the room, we were placed in a non smoking room. As we walked in to the room we noticed that the people in the room next to us were smoking some illegal substances and my room had a strong oder to it. The TV didn't work and the bathroom had stains every where. We asked to have our room changed and it was done immediately. When we got to the second room it was clean and the tv worked and free of odor. The next day we requested fresh towels and it took the lady a whole 2 hours to bring the towels which delayed our plans for the day. In addition to that the tv went out from 8 pm to the next morning. After staying at the Howard Johnson hotel for two nights I will never stay at another Howard Johnson in the future.

The hotel was disgusting I checked in late, went to sleep and woke up first thing in the morning to travel to my next destination to get cleaned up. Staying in this hotel made me feel dirty and disgusting, [...]. There was trash behind the night stand, I couldn't get internet access, the room looked as if someone had been living in the room, and the hallways and rooms STUNK of insense. I have severe allergies and can not handle smells with out getting a very intense sinus headache and from the moment we stepped onto the elevator the hotel was SCARY!

It went very well.
