Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham Hartford Meriden

During this stressful time of being snowed in I'd like to first acknowledge the two staff members that stayed the weekend with us all, rotating shifts. The manager was absent the entire weekend. The staff that remained with us should be promoted! At all times, they exhibited a patient and professional demeanor. They truly went above and beyond! The rooms are need of an update in decor, as well as electronics. The tv was old and "snowy", and we had to ask for cables to connect the dvd player. As far as cleanliness the trash in my room was still full from the previous guest. This gives me great pause as to the rest of the cleaning practices. People were expected to dig their own cars out of the snow, to get out of the poorly plowed lot. The blizzard was on a Friday, and when I left on Tuesday there were still vehicles buried in snow!

Everyone seemed nice enough, but arrived to smell people smoking on a non-smoking floor. Thankfully that did not continue in a way that I noticed for the rest of the stay. This is not a 3 start hotel. You get the basics, should note when booking that your room will not be cleaned- for 5 days, it was just not what I expect for a 3 star hotel.

we wanted to avoid Snow travel and we are happy with our stay it was confortable, clean, and staff were very friendly and helpful will return.

The rooms have a kitchenette and the holte has a 24hr store with more than basics: food, personal hygiene supplies, etc.

I was going to be in CT for 5 days and wanted a nice room with the ability to cook my own meals. This was a great affordable option. Bed was comfortable but they could use new pillows. Room was clean and even though they only provide a cleaning service every 5 days I was able to get new towels when needed. It was close to the interstate so it was easy to get to all of my meetings in the area. I will stay there again in the future if I need an extended stay place.

One issue was not being told or aware that the cleaning policy for this motel is once every 6 days! Even though our stay was for 2 days! Had to ask for towels which we were given with no problem. Also according to my purchase I would receive a free breakfast. This was not the case. Only thing available on one of the 2 days was a table set up in the lobby with complimentary bottles of juice and some packaged muffins and fruit. Not exactly what was shown on my trip as purchased. On the good side, the room was clean(at least on arrival) and comfortable.

Hotel changed companies sometime between when we booked the hotel and when we arrived so we drove around trying to find a hotel the ended up being right in front of us just with a different name. When we arrived the staff was friendly. They do have 24 hour staff at the front desk. The main hallway to the elevators had the gym and laundry room and seemed to be in good working order. The only bad part was that directly accross the hall are smoking rooms and the hallway smelled of smoke and unfortunately that is the only access to the elevators. The room was clean and in good repair. I appreciated that there was an iron and ironing board in the room. HBO and other premium channels were included. The bed was comfortable though it only had 3 pillows and when we asked for more the staff at the front required that we come to the lobby to get them. Overall for the price I would stay there again.

I was very pleased with location. Right off the highway. Within a few miles from pharmacy and grocery store. Everything in the hotel was neat and working order. The staff members were very hospitable. I had everything I needed in the room. Plenty of towels as well. Everything you need at a more than reasonable price!

Location and directions given by the staff was excellent. Great check in and courteous greeting. The room was perfect for our stay and check out was just as simply. Excellent value as well. Thank you again.

The place was located right off the freeway--good location since we were on a road trip. However, it was called "candlewood suites" on the site, which was its old name, so we drove by the Wyndham the first time around since the name was different. The room was equipped with a basic kitchen, free wifi, clean, and the diner across the street was decent. Good deal for overnight stay on road trip.
