While visiting my new grandchild in the Groton area, we drove from Wisconsin and stayed at this Howard Johnson motel. The location was off the beaten path but that wasn't half bad. Lots of items: towel racks, switches, were very worn and not in working condition. Food was left in fridge from previous guest. I'm not a complainer, and no one was at the desk anyhow.I tried to call the adjoining room (my daughter was staying there) but the intercom system didn't work. The curtain was too long and covered the air conditioning/heating unit making it cycle all night if I had the curtains closed.[...]

better than i thought
i was quite pleased with the night i stayed. the staff was very friendly, and the room was the perfect size for the night. the only thing i was unhappy about was, when i booked the hotel it was based on distance from mohegan sun & the website said it was 8.9 miles, when it was really 17. it wasn't a big deal.. but it would have been nice to know for future reference.

Very good location
This hotel was very clean and has been recently updated. It shows! It was our second time in two months and both rooms were excellent. The staff was very helpful and checking was easy. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good clean room. Only problem was they don't have an elevator, but worth the stay.

worst in a long, long time
This was the most outrageously overpriced room I have stayed in in about 20 years. It was off the beaten track, the outside was not cared for, the hallway rug was dirty, the room rug was dirty, one pillowcase had not been changed, the furniture was chipped and worn.

The hotel staff was not friendly. I asked for wireless and he gave me a slip of paper with a name and password. When it wouldnt work, he said his works theres nothing he can do. it wasnt an experience that i hated nor was it one that i liked.

A Dump
I would never stay at Howard Johnsons again. The Hotel was dirty. The room had an overwhelming air freshner smell. Their was Mold growing on the ceiling over the shower. Lighting was poor.
