The hotel was beautiful, friendly staff, and we really enjoyed the heated pool/ hot tub! The only thing that I disliked was ... that all the resturants/bars in the hotel were closed because it was off season so we were disappointed we didn't get to experience them.

Uneven experience. Staff didn't really seem to care. It's the off season so the staff acted like they were off too. Charged ... for the morning paper one day and then the next day said they are always supposed to be free. Charged me for an upgrade to a noisy room due to construction. Later split the bill after I complained. Nice beds and shower and heated floors in bathroom was nice. Good location for restaurants, etc. Their spa and restaurants were closed but at other nice hotels they were open and full service. I think they want to be 5 star but as a seasoned traveler they are not. Better 5 star options in Vail and Beaver Creek.

Can tell that hotel is new. Have some kinks to work out. A lot of amenities not available during the off-season (e.g., free ... breakfast). In addition, should put drapes in the real estate office and in the bike, etc., storage room - they're eye sores.

Can't Really Call It a Great Resort
Frequent Vail Visitor Oct 4, 2009
Not a bad place, but for what it's billed as, not great. Worn carpet in the hallways, the room door lock didn't work and they ... had to send maintenance, we paid extra for a "deluxe" room and got a view, and the noise, of the interstate highway. In general, okay, great location, comfortable but nothing special. Be careful in the shower, that tub is SLICK, slipped badly. No bottle openers in the room, either. Check out was a logjam, not enough people working and they were too busy answering the phone to actually check people out. And then they charge you $15 a day to park. C'mon, you run a hotel that people have to drive to, just build that cost into the room, charging extra is an insult.

In the shoulder season, between summer and winter, early October you'll get insane deals in local restaurants, 30-50 percent is common. Plan to eat well, and don't spend your money in a place that doesn't have a deal pushed at you. We scored a gourmet dinner for about half what it would have cost other times.

Good location, room, service
Cattledogs Aug 7, 2009
I booked a "deluxe" room and was rather shocked to see how small the room was. The room was probably not so small physically ... but the fact there was only one small window on the upper half of the room (with a mountain view) made the room very dark and very small. The room was very clearn and well decorated except one of the leather headboards had that classical childlish heart and names on it and it was HUGE. Why the hotel did not fine them to repair it is a big question - who would expect to see this cheesy grafitti in the very classically appointed room? Otherwise the room was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. Water had the good pressure, and the bathroom was very nice too. Wish there were a fridge and a small table in the room. We ordered a room service one night, and we had to eat on the bed if you did not want to eat on the desk staring at the wall. Service was very good and all the staff was very friendly and helpful. There was not much info on this hotel on the web, and the info on their website was minimum at best. So I did not know that a valet parking there would cost $15/night if you choose to use the service. If not, the free public parking (HUGE structure) is just a few blocks away. The location was superb, and you can get on and off I-70 easily.

There is a wonderful sushi restraunt only a few steps from the hotel. As I am from Japan originally, I am very selective when it comes to a Japanese restraunt. I did not expect to see this authentic sushi place at Vail. Ingredients were so fresh, and wasabi was actually grated (not made from the powder). Highly recommended even from the NYC standard but prepare to pay!

Very Clean Hotel, Great Location
GSD Jul 13, 2009
Had Standard king on first floor. No balcony, window faced parking garage entrance fifty feet away -- not exactly a view of ... the mountains or village. Front desk unresponsive to request to re-locate to balcony room. Desk clerk cited the fact that we had booked through Orbitz as a reason not to move us. Had previously stayed at the Marriott where king room came with a small, but nice balcony. Hotel occupancy was low. (Only saw one other couple on First Floor over three days.) Hotel was very clean. Standard room was Standard, nothing more. Only meal we ate in the hotel was a buffet breakfast ($13 ea. or more than $30 with tax and tip). Suggest this be avoided in favor of something else in the village--overpriced for the quality and choices. Might stay here again, but would be more selective about room location before booking.

Vail is a great place to be for the 4th of July. Vail Plaza was very close to all of the fun things that happen in Vail ... during the 4th. The hotel was comfortable and the staff very friendly.I would definitely stay at the Vail Plaza again. Our only negative was we were on the side of the building where deliveries were made and trash dispensed and collected. We heard metal clanging at 1:00 a.m. and again at around 5:00 a.m.

Great and convenient location
Jason Apr 22, 2009
This hotel has a great location at the edge of the pedestrian village and its very convenient to get to the slopes since the ... free bus system stops directly in front of this hotel. All of the staff were courteous but the ski-storage attendants really stood out as friendly and nice people. On the down side the rooms, while still comfortable, are starting to show a little wear and tear.
