Great location with awesome staff

Great location! They take your skis to a storage room close to the gondola, you just have to cross the street to put your ski boots on and grab your skis and go. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful!

Avoid the hotel restaurant. The wait for our order to be taken was inexcusable (about 45 minutes with nothing but water). Food came 21 minutes after the order was placed. All we ordered was a cobb salad and hamburger. The food was fine and the staff were friendly, but regardless, I would not return.

Great weekend getaway.

When I arrived, I changed rooms because I wanted a king size bed and the bell captain recommended a suite. The hotel staff was very helpful with all our needs. The room was very large with a great view of the town. The only problem we experienced was the room was warm. We went to a couple of great restaurants and the local museum was worth the visit. We have vacationed in Breckenridge and Aspen and would rank Steamboat in the middle of these 2 getaways.

Great location

Great location. It was an easy walk to the gondola. We also enjoyed the pool and hot tubs. The hot tubs (2) were huge so it didn't feel crowded. The drink service at the hot tub was top notch. Our dinner at the main restaurant (The Cabin) in the hotel was one of the best I have ever had at a hotel restaurant. Not much more than a pool for our daughter to do, but she enjoyed it.

Steamboat not so Grand

We had problems with teenagers running up and down the hall and knocking on doors all night. Security was called at least twice and I had to call the front desk several times. We paid $300.00 for our room and it wasn't worth it. We could have had the same issues for a third the price at a Holiday Inn. To top it off, the front desk didn't bother to ask how our stay was. I will be contacting the management company to complain. Don't stay here it isn't worth the stay.

Just ok...

We went for a quick ski getaway, and the trip was pretty much a bust. We had stayed at the Grand before and had a great experience so we were excited to go back. We arrived and the bellman were awesome, super friendly and helpful. Went to check in and the lady at the front desk ([...]) was not friendly and seemed annoyed for some reason. [...] I also remembered from the first time we stayed there the room had a mini fridge. This one did not, so we had to buy a cooler at the store to store the kids milk. Not a big deal but kind of a pain. When we arrived in our room, it was small and had 2 queen beds and one tiny bathroom. I thought we had booked a king size bed with the mini fridge but that was not the case. The bellman unloaded all of our gear before I had a chance to look around or else I would have changed rooms. My babies were restless, so we just settled for it. There was a door that connected rooms, so I do not know why the women at the front desk said that the rooms do not connect. This would have been a lot more convenient with the babies, so they could go back and forth to grandma and grandpa's room while my husband and I were on the mountain. My parents room had a larger bathroom, but was the same room size. The door on our bathroom did not shut completely without locking it from the inside, so it was a constant battle trying to keep my one year old out of the bathroom. I felt claustrophobic the whole time in the room and did not want to hang out in it. The room appeared very clean, and I am really picky about that traveling with the babies, so that was a definite plus. The only thing I saw that was kind of gross was when I went to open the window there was a cigarette bud that was wedged in the window seal. It stated that the whole hotel was non-smoking and I didn't smell smoke, so it was not a big deal, really. The snow was really bad, so that was a bummer, but we still had fun on the mountain and it was nice to be able to walk across the street to the gondola from the hotel. The location was great, and I am sure there are better rooms, that is why I would recommend the hotel to a friend.[...] In conclusion, our lessons learned were: a) you get what you pay for b) look around the room and don't settle for convenience of not having to pack up again. It would have been worth it to change rooms after I looked around and was not happy with what room we received.I am sure there are really nice rooms at the hotel, and if we ever decide to stay here again, I will pay for one of the better rooms. We will personally try a different hotel next time though for the money. Everyone except for the first woman at the front desk were very nice otherwise and it was clean with a great location, so if that is what you are looking for, go for it. Just pay for a good room!!

Mahogany Ridge Brewery and Grill in town was amazing. I am vegetarian and the sizzling tofu dish was one of the best tofu dishes I have ever had. My husband had the salmon noodle bowl which he thought was incredible and my parents had the fish and chips that they loved as well. The fries were SO good. I would drive up from Denver just to go there again, it was that good! Service was great as well. Make a reservation early in the day though because they fill up FAST!
