Nice without being pretentious

We've had mixed luck with ski resort hotels. Sometimes they're overpriced, haughty, and not nearly as good as they charge. Other times they've been run down and still pricey. The Lodge at Mountaineer Square is quite nice, at a good price, and a good vibe. For example, the bellhop told us while we were checking in that he could grab our bags - but he didn't stalk us (we each had one bag on wheels - we had it covered). This isn't the type of resort hotel where every time you turn around, someone is putting their hand out for a tip. Not that we're cheap, but we're self-sufficient. The desk clerk was very friendly, answered our questions succinctly, and guided us on our way to the underground parking (which is good whatever time of year - avoid the snow/ice in winter and the potential hailstorms in summer). We visited 4th of July weekend and there was plenty of parking spots available. When checking in, we asked for a quiet room - and were given one at the end of a hallway on the 5th floor. Never heard a peep from our neighbors. Our room was pretty amazing (King with sleeper sofa). Full kitchen with granite countertops, stove, huge fridge, dish washer, washer & dryer (separate closet), and fully stocked with plates, glasses, mugs and silverware. There was a separate living space with couch, chairs and TV. The bed was comfortable, plenty of pillows and extra blankets in the closet. The bathroom had a shower stall (no tub) and the sink was in the bathroom (no separate sink - which would be a nice add). There were numerous closets (3?), but it could have used a larger clothes dresser / armoire. The safe in the coat closet held all of our stuff - lap tops, Kindles, phones and cameras. WiFi was easy to connect and had a strong, consistent signal. The room was impeccably clean. The cleaning staff always had our room done while we were away - and we stopped in and out throughout the day - not sure how they did this. The shuttle into town runs every 20 minutes - we didn't use the car the entire time we were visiting. There's a convenience / liquor store across the street - aptly named The Store. We didn't buy any food at The Store, but they do have a reasonably good selection of liquor, beer and wine. We didn't see a major grocery store during our visit - so if you're planning on cooking a lot, you might want to load up as you come through Gunnison (there's a City Market / King Soopers / Kroger on the main drag as you head towards Crested Butte). When booking our trip, we didn't see a lot of variety / choices in the Crested Butte area - but we're very glad we found The Lodge. You should be too!

Wonderful sister/niece trip

This place was very nice. We rented a 2 bedroom, 3 bath unit and it was plenty big for the group. Even gave the niece her teenage privacy. We were in unit 411. Stunning view with its balcony. The room's furniture and amenities were good quality. It could use a new coffee maker, scary that it didn't shut itself off after hours. Everyone was pleasant and helpful. This is such a beautiful part of the world, it's hard to complain about anything. Even so, you won't go wrong staying here.

Good place to stay. Parking not included.

Its overall a good place to stay. Nice location, good staff, very clean and overall a good experience. One thing to note is, the parking is not included. You either need to park in a public lot or pay for their service

Very Good

Very well informed & helpful staff. The rooms were very nice, clean & comfy. Some of the rooms have little privacy if you unjar the curtains. Balconies from other rooms have clear view of other rooms.

Great hotel. Still need to figure out bill confusion between booking agent and hotel to be sure we were not billed twice for things.

Great Stay!

The Lodge is a perfect getaway. The location is fantastic. Our condo was very well equipped, clean, and spacious. The views are magnificent. You are right in the middle of all the activities happening on Mount Crested Butte and a minute walk to the chair lift. The free shuttle into downtown is such a nice touch. If I had one gripe, it would be that the pool and hot tub area are way too small for a lodge this size. For us though, this is a minor point. Don't hesitate to book your stay. You will not be disappointed. Crested Butte is spectacular!

Django's is yummy! The brussels sprouts are out of this world. Make a reservation as this place gets very busy on the weekends.
