Great Location

I was pleasantly surprised with the Arapahoe Inn. The room was simple, but clean. It is very close to Keystone, which is the best feature. It was also quiet and reasonably spacious. My only complaints were the bed, which was not very comfortable and the pillows, which were flat and they only gave 2. I will likely stay there again, and will definitely be bringing extra pillows.

Unsatisfied

When making a reservation with the travel company we checked the late check in box. When we got to the hotel there wasn't anyone behind the desk just two plastic boxes with keys in front of them. One labeled reservations and the other if you need a room. There wasn't a key for us in the reservation so we took one from the other pile and went to the room which smelled of mildew and mold, had broken shades that wouldn't close fully and a missing smoke detector with the existing wires hanging exposed from the ceiling. In the morning we left and tried to cancel our reservation through the travel company. We weren't able to due to the Arapahoes no cancelation policy. Next day came back to check in and the clerk couldn't find our reservation. I made him aware of the length of our stay and offered the confirmation number. He didn't acknowledge me and then finally found a reservation that was listed only for one night. I repeated it was suppose to be for four nights. He said he only had one night listed. I made him aware that we had stayed the night before and of the issue in the room. He then blamed me for not having our reservation because I didn't call 24 hrs ahead of time. He gave us a new room and we stayed there that night and checked out in the morning. I made new reservations at the newest hotel in Frisco (which was the same price and much nicer) and called the travel company to make them aware of the issue with the reservation and to not pay for the two nights we weren't going to stay there. The travel company called Arapahoe to make sure that I was telling the truth but couldn't get the information because the clerk was rude and hung up on them. The next day I received an e-mail from the travel company stating that we still had to pay for all four nights. I called asking why since the clerk said they only had us staying there one night? The clerk told a different story to them and saying that they had our reservation and we had to pay for all four nights. I hoped that the travel company would be an advocate for their customers and I tried to explain what had happened but they didn't care. They just stated that if they were going to be charged then they would charge me. So overall, long story short, the Arapahoe is more like a pay by the hour motel and travel company doesn't care about its customers. I won't use either again.

Money-saving tip: Short drive from hotel

Don't stay at the Arapahoe. Stay at the Holiday Inn in Frisco. Its not that much further, you have to drive to the mountain since the Arapahoe is deceivingly further then it looks, it's the same price and it's new. Also book it yourself

Won't Stay There Again

Room was basic, semi-clean, beds were hard as a brick. Room was ice cold when we checked in, had to leave for an hour or so to let the heater warm up the room. Hot tub was ice cold and sauna not working. Continental breakfast consisted of frozen waffles and coffee. Location was nice, right across the street from Keystone, lifts are much further than 400 yards away though. We will stay elsewhere on the next trip.

No Heat? In CO - in Dec?

Our room was frozen on arrival; the heat was turned to OFF. The next morning they ignored our "Privacy Please" sign to enter the room and turned the heat to OFF again! We returned the second night to another frozen room. In Colorado - in December - unbelievable! The sheets wouldn't stay on the mattress, only two pillows per room (a third is rationed from the front desk), tiny sandpaper towels and no-one manning the front desk on check-out. Next trip we're paying 20 bucks more to stay at a real hotel. You truely don't get what you don't pay for...
