Terra Hotel

The Hotel is beautiful and located between Jackson Hole and Teton National park. Yellowstone is a bit further up the road from here but still accessible. My only complaint was the comfort of the recycled beds. I appreciate the reclaiming of springs to make the beds but two nights and we were ready to run out of the Terra Hotel. Our bodies hurt after sleeping on these beds and we tossed and turned all night. Other than feeling tire the next day we loved the way the hotel looked.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Do not go to the Mangy Moose for dinner. If you want to go for a beer that's fine but the food there was marginal at best even though Giada recommended it. I believe she either knew the owner and was trying to drum up business for him or her taste buds have gone to seed. I had a Buffalo burger that would have felt more at home in a hockey rink. Tough and dry.

Short getaway with my boyfriend

We live in Denver and just wanted to get away for the night and snow shoe in rocky national park. The hotel was GREAT! We drank wine by the fireplace and Christmas tree. The staff was so kind. The view from our hotel room was spectacular. Definitely will go back.

impulse in estes

Overall good. We would return. However the room was smaller than we are used to and needed some updating. Had we paid more than what we did we would have been disappointed. This was a impulse stay for us and we didn't really get to use the amenities but from what we could tell they were nice. At the end of the day you have to tell yourself that this is a 100 year hotel with an incredible view.

A little sketchy at first

We planned this trip before the floods and before the government shutdown. We learned that all but one road to Estes Park was open, but when the government shutdown the National Park we tried to cancel. The hotel refused to cancel our reservations and they were going to charge us $160.00 whether we showed up or not. We were not happy about that. We made the trip from Denver to Estes Park on the only road that was open (due to the flooding), it took over 3 hours to get there. We were very pleased with the location when we got there and the staff made all the difference in the world....especially Ann. We ended up staying an extra night in part because of the long drive in and out of the area, but if it wasn't for Ann we would have changed hotels.

So right

Nice comfortable room with a great picture window view of Estes Park. wondeful outdoor heated pool and hot tub under the pines. The staf went above a beyond for us. Free laundry. The only minor problem is thwe cramped parking lot, don't come up the driveway in a big pickup. The "View" restaurant was a bit pricey.

Great Place

It's a nice old place with a touch of modern in the right places. My wife and I enjoyed our stay. The staff was very accommodating and was able to point me in the right directions from horse back riding to hiking to places to eat. Thank you,

Sightseeing tip: Short drive from hotel

Get your ticket to Rocky Mountain National Park early in the week for the ticket is good for the week. This way you can take small hikes every day if you want and not have to do it all in one day.

Great Place to slow down and enjoy

This hotel is a great place to take a break. It reminded me of the old world resorts - big open area in the lobby, deck, porch area. While the property is the third oldest resort in Estes, the room was modern and nice. The rooms are not air conditioned so get you windows open and ceiling fans going early - the rooms will cool down. There is not breakfast.
