What does lodge mean anyway?

We only stayed for one night so go by someone who was there longer. That said, be aware that Tamarron Lodge is a condo complex. Some condo owners live there, others rent out their units. Reservations are booked through an offsite management company (Durango Mountain Resort), and we booked the room through an online travel site. All this was very confusing and ended up with the person at the front desk (who didn't work for DMR) not being able to answer our questions very well. The furnishings were better than what you'd get in your usual 3-star hotel (the sofa bed had thick cushions, the rug had a heavy pile) but it still felt like a hotel room in a condo complex. There was a small, old kitchen sink that was part of an efficiency unit (small fridge under the sink, two burner stove). Pots, pans, etc. included so you can cook. The common areas on every floor are comfortable, and there's an outdoor balcony set up with a few tables and bar stools. There's also a golf course on the grounds. The place is quiet, with the rooms set in hallways behind closed doors, shutting out the common areas. Lastly, this complex is about 20 miles outside downtown Durango. Good if you need some peace and quiet, not so good if you need to be in the middle of the action.

Dining tip: In Hotel

Since the lodge is not in the center of town, you might want to check out the restaurant (Cuckoo's) right on the premises. The staff is friendly, the food decent but not special, the location convenient.

Beautiful views

Cool place to base your 4 corners experience. Close enough to town and far enough away from it as well. We did not want for anything, the service was professional, they know what you need before you ask. The spa could have used a few more towels in the rotation, or another dryer to keep up with demand, but this was only a minor blemish. The kids loved the pool and this made for a great place to burn off some energy. We will be back.....

Time-saving tip: Not Applicable

Pay close attention on the drive to the property. The sign is tiny, and when you miss the turn, it can take awhile to get back.

Nice place to stay

Vary nice place to stay. Room is big, clean, and quite. But, it may need a bigger sign on road side, otherwise is hard to find during the night.

Better Option than we knew!

Stayed at Tamarron that gave us good position between Durango and DMR. Room was amazingly clean and comfortable. The swimming pool was a blast for the kids, swimming inside and outside under the wall. Having an adult only hot tub was a nice touch for me. I will stay there again.

New Year's 2012!

The entire Tamarron experience was better than expected. The resort was a nice distance from Durango & The Durango Mountain Resort. Our room was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped. The maid service was good, and clean, thick towels were provided daily. Would go back there tomorrow if I could!

Passing Through

Overall good experience. Nice hotel, beautiful views! No restaurant nearby, but downtown Durango was great. Our AC didn't cool the room for several hours, which was not ideal at all. Wish we could have stayed their multiple nights to enjoy the amenities. We got lost on the way, there aren't any signs letting you know where to turn.
