Historic Hotel Lives Up to Expectations
It is really nice to stay in a well restored and historic hotel. The Oxford, located in the historic Lower Downtown District, provides a nice alternative to the national chain hotels closer to the central business district. The staff was very attentive, professional and well trained. I will stay here again!

Great vintage get away
The Oxford is clearly an old-style elegant hotel, right down the street from the old Union Station. My daughter invited me to go to the Colorado Symphony and what better place to meet her than The Oxford. We were able to take the free hotel shuttle to the Performing Arts Center. Valet parked our cars for the night and simply enjoyed ourselves! Close to shops, restaurants, walking trails and many activities, this was just perfect for a college student and her still young mom! Had a room on the street side so had a little late night revelry outside at night but even they went off to sleep eventually.

Shopping tip:
Short walk from hotel
One block away: the Tattered Cover Bookstore! If you like the old style bookstore, it doesn't get much better than the Tattered Cover! Then across the street from the bookstore, you can catch the Free 16th Street Mall shuttle and go shop downtown Denver.

Nice discovery
I came for a conference at the Colorado Convention Center and all the hotels around the Convention Center were booked. The Oxford, only 0.9 miles away, was available. What a nice surprise! The hotel has been around for a while. It has an old world charm. When I entered my room I was pleasantly surprised at the size of the room and the elegance of its setting. As a bonus, the hotel has Town Car service to places around downtown. Just excellent!

Great, Classy hotel
I really enjoyed this hotel. It's nice to see it's classic styling still faithfully represented in the decor and furniture. It has all of the amenities that you would look for and a great deal of class that is absent from more mainstream hotels.

Stately old hotel with corridors
Stately old hotel with corridors high and wide enough to drive a stagecoach down. Very nicely kept up - plus the usual 21st century facilities: ipod cradles, flat screen TVs, free wifi. Friendly staff. The one bum note was the outrageous mark-up on phone-calls. Couldn't use skype as there were menus to negotiate on the numbers I was calling, but I'd have spent much less using my roaming NZ mobile. Ouch.

Very comfortable hotel
I attended a three-day conference at the Colorado Convention Center. The Center is not very close to the hotel, but I enjoyed walking from the hotel to the Center, through the pleasant 16th St. (The Mall). It's an easy walk (about 15 minutes). However,as an alternative, I could have taken the free ride on the electric shuttle, which runs along 16th St., and is provided by the township. The staff at the hotel were courteous and helpful. The room was nice and clean, and the surroundings were quiet. I couldn't ask for more.

Satisfied in Sac
For my husband and I, it was centrally located, quiet and clean. The staff was very helpful when asked and the morning coffee was a welcome sight! The one thing that bothered me was that there was really no view and the bed was too soft. Our window looked out to a wall of the building and part of a roof. It would have been nice to see the view outside.

All the great restaurants are are 16th and/or Larimer. We loved walking to the Market for sandwiches, or the Cheesecake Factory. Lots of great places to eat within a few blocks. We were not disappointed!

Mixed Bag
Lovely restoration on an old hotel. Problem is the location -- it's "too good." There is lots of outside traffic -- from honky car horns, idling trucks, people emptying from bars -- that you can pretty much guarantee you won't fall asleep until 2AM. Moreover, the restoration didn't include any soundproofing between rooms -- I could hear the guy behind my headboard yawning at 7AM. Only saving grace was that I wasn't next to "the honeymoon couple." In the restaurant for breakfast, I waited for 5 minutes to get served, and only then, when I went and got the hotel manager. There are better options than this in Denver. I'd say pass it up.
