Great Location!

Great Location, but expensive hotel. Was nice but not super clean as I would have expected. Very friendly staff, except for one girl. Spa is right next door! Very friendly at the spa, would definately recommened the spa to everyone! If you stay in the hotel you get 10% off spa services! The beds are very hard. My husband and I had a very hard time getting to sleep. Also you can hear everything from the street in your room. We were on the 3rd floor and still heard everything.

Great location!

we were visiting Denver for an NBA game and for st. Patty's- we wanted to stay downtown so we could walk around and not have to worry about driving. The Oxford has a great location and were very helpful with giving us directions to maneuver through the streets closed off for the st. Patty's parade. So overall- great location, friendly and helpful staff, great restaurant/ bars and clean rooms. My only complaint is that our room's bathroom was a little small- not a very big shower.

Adorable, thoughtfully-updated historical spot

This is the kind of place you dream of booking when visiting a city for the first time in a long time: comfortable, tasteful, immaculately clean, well-staffed, and within walking distance of pretty much anything you'd want to experience during your stay (in my case, restaurants, good coffee, and a fantastic indie bookstore). The bedding is comfy enough and the walls, thick enough to ensure a good night's sleep. The restaurant and bar on the ground floor serve good food—handy for folks like me who visit during cold and snowy weather. The desk is big enough to work on, the wifi (like most hotels) fast enough to get by, if only just. I *loved* the huge, old-timey windows that let in lots of light, and was grateful for the heavy blackout drapes that kept things dark in the morning. Oh, and absolutely every one of the staff I encountered was terrific. Fantastic service. My only quibbles are just those: the TV was too small for as far as it was from the bed, and the furniture, while comfortable, was so huge, it kind of got in the way. I would have rolled with one less chair and a few more inches on the screen size. Overall, though, a fantastic find in a great location.

Shopping tip: Short walk from hotel

Check out the tremendous indie bookstore, The Tattered Cover, just a couple of blocks away. Great selection, beautiful space, super-comfy chairs to settle down in with a book or four, and outstanding espresso drinks and treats. If I had one near my house, I'd weigh 200 lbs. and never get a lick of work done.

so comfortable and unique

The Oxford is the best-! A most refreshing change from cookie-cutter franchise-based hotels. Each room at Oxford has unique decor and various pieces of antique furniture line the hallways. The artwork in the rooms, hallway and lobby is authentic and vintage Colorado. Love the canary cage near the check-in desk and the warm fire crackling in the stone fireplace in the lobby. They have the nicest most cheerful doormen on the planet. I just wish they provided pillows without feathers because I'm allergic to them. Otherwise, an awesome place-!

Historic Hotel Lives Up to Expectations

It is really nice to stay in a well restored and historic hotel. The Oxford, located in the historic Lower Downtown District, provides a nice alternative to the national chain hotels closer to the central business district. The staff was very attentive, professional and well trained. I will stay here again!

Great vintage get away

The Oxford is clearly an old-style elegant hotel, right down the street from the old Union Station. My daughter invited me to go to the Colorado Symphony and what better place to meet her than The Oxford. We were able to take the free hotel shuttle to the Performing Arts Center. Valet parked our cars for the night and simply enjoyed ourselves! Close to shops, restaurants, walking trails and many activities, this was just perfect for a college student and her still young mom! Had a room on the street side so had a little late night revelry outside at night but even they went off to sleep eventually.

One block away: the Tattered Cover Bookstore! If you like the old style bookstore, it doesn't get much better than the Tattered Cover! Then across the street from the bookstore, you can catch the Free 16th Street Mall shuttle and go shop downtown Denver.

Nice discovery

I came for a conference at the Colorado Convention Center and all the hotels around the Convention Center were booked. The Oxford, only 0.9 miles away, was available. What a nice surprise! The hotel has been around for a while. It has an old world charm. When I entered my room I was pleasantly surprised at the size of the room and the elegance of its setting. As a bonus, the hotel has Town Car service to places around downtown. Just excellent!
