Howard Johnson Inn - Denver

We arrived thinking the hotel was being renovated because it looked kinda shoddy from the outiside. We checked in early, desk person seemed grumpy, finally went to our room. Sign says you need room key to access inside of room, wide open, huge stains on the front entry carpet, hallway was extremely dark even during the day, opened our room door, smelled, torn, stained carpet, furniture stained, & when I sat on a chair, my husband pointed out a CRACK PIPE in the crease of the chair. We couldn't get out of there quick enough. When we checked out, front dest was not happy, but when Howard Johnson puts their name on a hotel, they should at least check it out.

[...] [*] They have GANG MARKS ON THE SIDE OF THE MOTEL!!!!!!! The smell in the hallway was so bad that i could not stay there i had to go and stay at another motel!!

Hotel looked extremely run down as we pulled in. Receptionist was sitting out of view and front office looked deserted until you got right up to the counter. The computer in lobby was broken the entire 7 days and the "continental breakfast" was not trustworthy. Once in hotel room we found water stains/mold growing underneath bathroom sink AND no cover on back of toilet. Carpet in room was littered with stains. The maids chose when they felt like making beds & taking out trash...more than 2 days we came back to only new towels and beds not even made up. But to end on a semi-positive note we only had to kill 2 bugs during the stay. Grounds were horrible,AWFUL HOTEL-not worth the cheap rates!!!!!!

The sign in front of the HJ hotel reads "CHEAP WEEKLY RATES". It was at this point that I realized that this is a drug dive, turns out that I was right. The whole place was dirty. The service was very poor, not because the folks working there did not want to help. I believe the poor service to be a direct result of having a slum lord for a boss. No refrigerator, no microwave, no clock and the kind of filth that is hard to wash off. One night I found that I had no towels, Receptionist said they would get me some right away but I did not get any until the following day. A young man walked up to me in the hallway and offered me a shot of booze from the open bottle he carried. The guy in the next room was yelling one night saying I'll punch your face in [*]. I don't know if he was punching the walls or what but the wall in my room shook a few times and that woke me up. The following night there were 3 police cars in the parking lot for some reason. I finally got a fridge, I had to carry it myself from another room down the hall, but at least I got one. I'm sure there are a few more fun things that I am forgetting to mention. [...]If you decide to stay in this dive, bring your gun.......

Hotel conveniently located and the price was good. That being said overall the building was in poor repair, it was an older building (which was fine) but needed some maintaining. The room was clean and most things worked!

OK. Have basicly the same experience every year.

It was clear that the toilet had been changed recently as there was caulk left behind from the last one. The shower head was rigged for very short people. I am 6'5" but wouldn't have noticed if it was still set up for average people. The resturaunt wasn't very friendly to me. My guess is because I am white. I waited quite a while for my food. Got no refill on my drink till well after my meal was finished. When I finally got my check and paid I went to my room where I was nausious and on the toilet for the rest of the afternoon and evening. By the way, If there was one, no one told me there was a gym or pool.

We stayed only bc only 5 hotels left in Denver due to a huge convention and our travel agent screwed up our "CONFIRMED" reservation at another place. This DUMP should be condemned. No sign to show the 'lobby', No security, hobo looking ppl drinking and hanging at the many open hotel entrances. Bars on the windows cause there was no locks. Room had terrible odor, floor looked like a dalmation, numerous sprayed liquids on walls, furniture, doors. Phone did not work. Animal food left on floor of bathroom along with other dust bunny filth and hair. One of the two beds was decent, the other- the wood frame was broken so it was tilted. When you sat on the bed it tilted to the floor!! You had to center your body to lie on it still uneven! The pool had NO water in it! Breakfast was decent but no fruit. NIGHTMARE!!!!! I'd rate it -5.

hotel was older and very simple,but clean.staff was friendly and overall we enjoyed our stay and would stay there again.
