Decent downtown hotel

Not a bad value for a location right in the middle of downtown. The closest competition was $50 more, AND expected guests to pay for wifi! The plumbing was a little noisy, but the room was comfortable and very clean. Staff was courteous and professional.

Check your bank statement before you check out!

I'm not wealthy, but I went all out because my Sister came out from Indianapolis to run the RnR Denver half marathon with me. We spent 3 nights. Fri-Mon. The room is really cool, very nice beds with a cushioned backboard to sit up in comfort and watch tv or read. (very nice feature). Very nice tv also. A little cramped with luxury, but we didn't spend too much time in the room. The housekeeping staff was very helpful and nice. The first night, around 2:30 am a group of rowdy partiers woke us up. The walls are kinda thin I guess, or they were just really loud. Disgusted, I phoned the front desk for a box fan and a couple pairs of ear plugs. The houseman who brought the fan etc. was a member of security, he heard the ruckus next door and KICKED THEM OUT OF THE ROOM! 5*. I only wished I could have found him the next day to give him a hug and a tip. No problems after that except on Monday, our final morning I received a bill under the door for around $400, the cost of the room plus parking which I had already paid through Orbitz, along with 3 charges to my bank account that the staff could not explain, totaling well over $200. Some of that was the vallet parking charge of $66 for 3 days which I expected. Long story short, after a bit of early morning stress, this was taken care of immediately and I was comped the parking charge because of the hassle! The staff at this place is absolutely remarkable, top notch, not to mention the location which was perfect for us.

It was just...blah

Located at the edge of Denver's downtown, this location has a lot of potential but it was unrecognized for the most part. The staff was friendly, and the elevators are fast, but that is about it. The room I stayed in on the 16th floor was tiny and looked to be from the late 80's- while the flat panel television was nice, it does not exactly update the whole room or floor for that matter. There were few outlets in the room, the desk chair was awkwardly placed in the room and did not fit under the actual desk (also awkwardly placed). The lamps were weirdly askew and the beds/pillows below average. Ice and vending are located on every third floor or so and it can be quite an adventure trying to find the machines. The bathrooms are tiny and the weird (but necessary) counter top design makes it difficult for one person to be in the bathroom. If this hotel were out in the middle of Nowheresville, CO, it might fly but the fact that it was in downtown Denver is really disappointing. While there, I had friends stay at a hotel just a few blocks away (outside of the downtown) that had amazing rooms, kitchenettes, a balcony and roughly three times the space- and they paid $30 less than I did. Skip this one and find something else.

It could've been OK... but was a nightmare in the end.

The location of this hotel is fantastic for walking to the 16th shops. The room itself was very nice too. However there were some major issues with staff. The girl checking us in was nice enough, but seemed annoyed when we called and asked the location of the ice machine. She told us "it's on the card I gave you but there's one on the (whatever) floor".. That was really nothing but add that to the fact that there was no alarm clock in the room and she didn't want to bother bringing us one so she asked if it would be ok to just schedule a wake up call. That was ok, but we still had no clock in the room. Also, the shower took 30 minutes to drain after a quick 5 minute shower meaning you had to either stand in the last person's dirty water or wait for it to drain. All of this could normally be overlooked, but then the real problem occurred. There is exactly ONE loading station for customers checking in and out. This is on a crowded main street in downtown Denver. We had left our bags after checkout to walk around a bit before leaving for Boulder and beyond and when we went back to get them, we pulled into the loading zone which turned out to be the space behind the loading zone. We were told to move to the alley which even after I explained that all we needed to do was grab 2 bags and throw them in the trunk, they still insisted we move in the alley. I moved into the alley and they told me to please move again to allow other customers in so I went and turned around and parked on the other side. Keep in mind this is a large rental minivan and I had to do a 25 point turn to turn around in this narrow little alley. I managed to do so and pulled up in front of the door to load the bags when they came up and insisted AGAIN that I move. This time they wanted me to pull back out into the street where I ORIGINALLY WAS. I told them they were coming out with the bags and all we had to do was put them in the trunk, I'd already moved 3 times and would not be moving again. They insisted that Other Customers had to have that space and I said "I'm a customer and you don't seem to mind inconveniencing me" and they just insisted I move again. I refuse and 5 seconds later threw the bags in the trunk and drove off. The staff was extremely uncooperative and could have easily just grabbed the bags for us, tossed them in and helped us instead of just insisting we accommodate them and the "other customers" who were so much more important than us. This really ruined a part of our vacation since they were so rude and it left a bad taste in our mouth for the attitude of staff at this hotel. This is also after we had to walk 3 blocks to park since the original check in girl didn't really want to explain the parking situation to us (which is complicated) and wanted us to pay $22 to park. We were only going to be in town for 8 hours and didn't want to pay for 24. She would only say "just read the meters because it's complicated". This meant that at 2:30 am we were wandering the streets of an unfamiliar town looking for parking and trying to figure out what to do. Luckily a stranger on the street was nice enough to explain the situation and showed us where to go. It's too bad the staff at this hotel couldn't have offered the same information. Overall, I would probably not stay here again because the service is just not up to par. Time for an attitude adjustment.

Time-saving tip: In Hotel

Park two blocks away in the lot that charges only $10. You can stay there 24 hours and avoid the $22 fee they will try to sell you. They probably won't bother to explain this to you. Then, just walk your bags the 3 blocks to avoid the rudeness from the outside staff who will simply watch as you struggle loading bags in a horribly poorly designed loading "zone".. what a joke..

Great Location, Friendly Staff!

We are recent college grads that stayed for 4 nights on vacation. The location was perfect, just 1 block away from the 16th St. Mall and a free trolley stop. We were also a reasonable walk from the Capitol building, a great restaurant district on 17th Ave, all the shops/eats on 16th Street, and close to several Denver "B" cycle stations-a great way to get around the city! It was also really easy to use the free trolley to get to LoDo and the Highlands neighborhood for the Denver Aquarium, Farmer's Market on Saturday morning, and much more! A lot of our activities were cheap or free, and the hotel staff was very helpful in giving us directions around town, as well as great (reasonable) selections for places to enjoy local food. The hotel itself was so much more than we expected for the price. The hotel was very clean, the neighborhood was great (aka close to food, entertainment, and very safe). Also, the Comfort Inn is a "sister hotel" and connected to the Brown Palace Hotel-a gorgeous and historic building. A huge benefit of staying at the Comfort Inn is that you also have access to the knowledgeable staff at Brown Palace as well. The free breakfast was a little disappointing-the fruit was frequently less than appealing and the selection was small, but it was free. (Try the Delectable Egg just a few blocks away for a great breakfast.) Some of the remodeling in the hotel also didn't make sense- the towel rack was INSIDE the shower in our room, but the whole experience exceeded my (rather picky) expectations. Also, despite our room facing a rather busy street, the room was very quiet at night! Bottom line: Great location, fantastic staff, clean room. A great buy!

Little Man's Ice Cream in the Highlands neighborhood is both fantastic and affordable, as well a gorgeous walk. The wait can be long- 30 minutes late on Sunday night- but the wait is worth it.

Great downtown location

Great location, lots of things to do, parking was a bit pricey. Houskeeping forgot to clear towels from previous occupant, as well as clean out coffee pot. Other than that it was nice. The rooms a a little cramped but nice. breakfast was good.

Close but no cigar!

I attended a conference during the day while my college aged daughter explored the area. In the afternoons/evenings, we played tourist together. Our upgraded room was alright with a few exceptions. The toilet did not flush completely the first and sometimes even the second time. We could hear our neighbors' television and toilet flush. The closet had lots of hangers but having a drawer or two would have been nice.
