Good but not great.
I last stayed at the Brown Palace in the early 1980's, and the hotel is much as I remembered it . The ambiance was very nice. Our room was clean and comfortable and the staff were pleasant. Electrical supply (1 outlet) at the desk is inadequate for a business trip, and the pillows could have been better. While the hotel got the big things right, it missed on the small things. The coffee bar in our room had only one cup, so my wife and I had to take turns; the bathoom had a bath mat the first night, but not the second (I did check to ensure that it wasn't mixed in with the towels); when my wife an I returned to the room at 4:00 p.m., it had not been made-up (I had to call the front desk); turn down service included chocloates the first night (when we were in the room), but not the second (while we were out for dinner); we had to wait 20 minutes for the valet to pull our car out of valet parking (and I was one of only two guests waiting). Dinner (both service and food) in the Ships Tavern was good. The hotel was good, but I expected more for a venerable and iconic hotel.

Great Trip!
The staff was friendly and the location was wonderful! It was walking distance to the 16th street mall that included multiple shops and restaurants as well as a movie theater. This is my second time staying in this hotel and I would come back again!

Best thing about Denver
The hotel was an oasis of civility. The room was quite and the bed very comfortable. The room was fairly large and appointed in charming furniture, Make sure to take the guided tour to find out about the history of this fabulous hotel.

Wednesday night in Downtown Denver is an amazing bicycle ride called Denver Cruisers and Thursday night in Downtown by the river is Drums and fire dancers with Blu, who also plays the drums not too far from the Brown Palace on a wonderful street filled with stores, resturants and no cars.

brown palace - denver
brown palace is an elegant hotel and had a great location downtown within a 2 minute walk of 16th street mall. there were plenty of food and entertainment spots at the mall. we ate breakfast at delectable egg (very good), and dinner at marlowe's (very good also, a bit pricey). bowled at lucky strike and also saw movies at united artists. the hotel had a nice cigar bar, and spa which we used and recommend. The only reason it does not get a 5-star rating from us is because there are no jacuzzi rooms, and no microwaves or fridges in the rooms.
