Decent stay for the price
The dead bolt on the door wouldn't lock, there were stain all over the walls, other than that the room feeling a bit grungy it was a decent stay considering the price. Probably wouldn't stay here again though.

Annual Parent's weekend to Air Force Academy
The hotel is a great location for visiting the Air Force Academy and other Colorado Spring Attractions, but th owners need to invest some more money into new linens and updating the property. I would love to stay here again next year if they get rid of the smoking rooms and get new mattresses and bed linens.

Never More
Never charged for using safe before!
When checking in I was asked for a credit card imprint for "incidentals". I asked what this might cover and was told it was all outlined in the contract--1 signature and about 5 initials required. Categories were: damage-OK, phone calls-OK, not returning the key-OK and then $1.50 unless we specifically told staff at checkout we didn't use the safe-never encountered that one before. Towels were thin and all had holes, sheets were so worn they were transparent and the single blanket was stiff and therefore removed from the bed. Complex layout requires exit to exterior room entrance from the central building for most rooms. There are some interior access rooms but in the minority. This design seems a questionable choice for Colorado.

Needed a place to sleep for one night
Friendly staff, but kind of a dump. Room in bad shape. Furniture worn and cheap, bathroom needs attention, and towels are thinner and frayed and look worse than the rags I use for cleaning at home. Price was $29 - haven't seen anything this low in a decade

Very affordable
The Howard Johnson was a good place to stay for the price we paid. When we asked the hotel clerk for a recommendation on a good local restaurant, we got the name of a chain, which we were not looking for at all. Other than that, the room was clean, the check in was smooth, and again, for the price, it was a good deal.

Entertainment tip:
Short drive from hotel
Nor more than a 20 minute drive from all the attractions of Colorado Springs--Cave of the Winds, Garden of the Gods, Cliff Dwellings, Manitou Springs, etc.

Howard Johnson Colorado Springs
Hotel was clean, in convenient location just off I-25 at north end of town--good area. It was a good value for price except the outdoor pool was tiny--not much larger than a big hot tub. Front desk clerk indicated guests were entitled to passes at a YMCA pool about 3 miles away, but we were not interested in that arrangement. A pool was a requirement in selecting our location, so we were very diappointed. Otherwise, everything was fine. The continental breakfast was actually a breakfast, including biscuits and gravy and hard-boiled eggs, as well as typical bagels and pastries. If a pool is not a requirement, this hotel provides worthwhile accommodations--more like 4.5 out of 5 for the money.

Weekend Getaway
The room was ok - not special, but ok. The worst thing was the pillows, they were very hard and lumpy so we went to the store and bought some. The rooms were clean, but needed updating and repair.

National Day of Prayer Conference
The hotel was conveniently located to the conference site. The staff was friendly and the room was clean. The only things that would have made it better for me would have been more of a variety on the continental breakfast bar and a treadmill so I could walk.
