Not our best choice

We got to the hotel around 7:00 pm and were able to check in right away. The front desk clerk was friendly and helpful. I would have to say that the best part of our stay was the staff. Everything else...well, read for yourself. The bed's have hard springs that sort of "pop" when they feel like it. The bathroom was clean, however the shower heads need replacing because water sprays everywhere. The cleanliness of the room is okay, it's just that it needs to be renovated (carpets replaced (I wore slippers in the room so my feet would have to touch the carpets, walls repainted, etc.) so there is only so clean an old dingy room will look. There aren't enough lights in the room, so you feel like you are in a dark, dingy, dank space, which wasn't appealing at all. The walls are extremely thin, so you can hear everything going on next to you above you and below you. It's insane. The floors feel hollow so we tried to walk softly so that we didn't make the same loud sounds the people above us were making for the people below us. You had to slam the door for it to close, and apparently it was the same for every room because all you heard all day long were door slams. The people immediately next door must have had kids who wanted to leave and return frequently, because all we kept hearing was their door slamming over and over again. It was a very loud stay. The location was walkable to downtown, and the I-25 was nearby so that was great. The breakfast was also decent, providing powdered eggs (which I didn't eat, but my husband said were "edible"), sausage, pancakes, juices, yogurts, oatmeal (which is what I ate every day), muffins/pastries. Basically, to sum up our stay, the pros were the staff, the distance to downtown, and the breakfast. The cons were the condition of the hotel, the comfort level of the beds, the overall loudness of the hotel (very huge con if you are trying to sleep in order to get out and explore during the day!) Overall, I would not return to this hotel. Spending some extra money and staying where the overall level of comfort is higher will be what we do next time.

Don't Look too closely

Moths are not the worst things that could be in a hotel room, and getting upset about them is probably too close. The beds were clean but it looked like someone had jumped on them minutes before we arrived and decided to change rooms. But the breakfast was okay, and Colorado Springs is great.

Instead of walking to the business district which looks like the heart of downtown, go another four or five blocks to the area adjacent to Colorado College. Far wider selection

Nothing Spectacular

The rooms were ok, the pool was usable, but looked like in the middle of an update, the hot breakfast was actually pretty good. The area the hotel is in was a little questionable, but definitely not the worst. Overall it is a decent hotel for a night, but probably would look elsewhere if planning on staying for a week.

Average hotel, nothing special

The staff were pleasant and the room was clean, they also provided an extra bed without charge. On the down side the breakfast was unimpressive, the plates were damp and the food was below par. The less said about the hash browns the better. The hotel is close to the city, but it is not really in an attractive location.

Clarion Hotel & Conference Center Colorado Springs

The hotel is a little old, and the rooms are a little outdated, my room was not very clean, the curtain did not have enough holders to secure it to the curtain rod so it was hanging down allowing light in, and when I check in I ask if they had a luggage cart the clerk said I don’t see one in the lobby, but there should be one by the elevators if you cannot find one come back and I will see if I can find you one. I stayed 4 days and had to track down the maid twice to get my room clean, said she was busy and forgot my room. Went down in the morning for breakfast, coffee was cold they did not replenish the food trays.

Ten minute walk to downtown was appreciated. Try Jose Muldoons for inexpensive margs and mex.
