Solid Beaver Creek hotel

I've been to Beaver Creek 4 times, and each time I've stayed at the Pines Lodge. If you come here expecting Four Seasons/Ritz quality, you might be disappointed, but I would say that the Pines is a great second tier option in Beaver Creek if you don't want to spend $800 - $1000/night at the Rtiz Bachelor Gulch or the Park Hyatt (by the way, neither of these more expensive is as great as other Ritz or Park Hyatt hotels). The great things about the Pines are 1) on-site Beaver Creek Sports rental shop, 2) ski-in, walk/ski-out from the back door, 3) Grouse Mountain Grill for dinner. The worst thing about the hotel is the breakfast -- it is a $20 buffet that feels like one of the worst values in a world of expensive hotel breakfasts. You can walk 5 minutes down to the village, but the walk back is uphill a little bit, so even though you don't want to pay for breakfast at the hotel, it sort of isn't worth it to go to the village. But overall, I think the Pines Lodge is a really good value for peak season travel if you want to be close to the village and almost fully ski-in, ski-out.

First Impression/Great Impression

This was our first stay at the pines, it is a smaller hotel/lodge which is nice. The staff was very friendly and quick to help with questions or any problems that occurred during our stay. Excellent restaurant on site, would stay here again.

great spot for a romantic getaway

The hotel has a fantastic location. Ski out and ski in (with a little bit of creative navigation). The room was nicely appointed and very large. The boot heaters in each room were a nice touch too. We are already looking forward to our next stay at this hotel.

Overall great experience!

We had a very positive experience at the Pines, in no small part due to the staff. We got off to a bit of a rough start with our canine companions, but the front desk staff were extremely understanding and worked with us so that we (and our dogs) could enjoy the weekend activities we came for. Then, they went above and beyond. Other details: perfect location within easy (and beautiful) walking distance to "town", music, hiking, etc. Big, clean room with super comfortable bed. Not really a surprise, but the "pet friendly" rooms face the front entrance, so sights and sounds of cars instead of mountains and golden aspens. Just go outside instead. We hope to come back!

Great One Night Stay

Really liked this hotel, took advantage of the off-season prices, tho was happier before the $30 additional lodge fee...still really nice, great views, spacious room, loved the bathtub that was actually nice to take a bath in. Staff was very friendly, nice restaurant, pricey, but expected in that area. Would definitely stay here again, it's absolutely beautiful in the summertime. Traveled as a single woman and felt very safe the entire time.

So luxurious...and at an amazing price!!!

We only stayed at The Pines for one night, but it was so relaxing! Because it was "mud season" and the hotel wasn't at capacity, we were upgraded to a suite and it was fabulous! I was told that the room would normally go for $500/night during ski season. We got an amazing deal and we wish we could have stayed for days!

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

There is a wonderful Thai restaurant called 'PHO' downtown just a short drive from The Pines. The food is amazing and they do carry-out. So so yummy!!!

Nice time

Comfortable bed. Loved the hot tub and pool area. Didn't use the work out room, but it looked great. We took shuttle to hill because it was last ski weekend and the close one to hotel was closed. The shuttle was quick and comfortable. Loved the nice touches such as Starbucks coffee and cookies after skiing. The guys outside were great with getting our car several times and helping with luggage.

A nice visit, but not spectacular

The Pines Lodge is completely adequate - clean rooms, great concierge/bellhop assistance, great restaurant. While technically you can ski out (by hiking up stairs, up a hill, then poling for 200 yards), it is a far cry from what I expect of a true ski in / ski out. There actually are not many true ski in/ski out places in Beaver Creek. The shuttle system is very good, just add complexity and time that I had not expected.
