It is what it's called a mountain house lodge

The staff is very very friendly. Probably friendliest hotel staff I've ever experienced. The property is in a good location and has great parking right in front but the property is what it says in the title. A mountain house lodge. Kinda homely. No elevator. You can hear your neighbors.

Sightseeing tip: Long walk from hotel

Parking in aspen is kind of a pain so if you are going to ski on the main mountain for the day, you'll have to pay for a parallel spot on the street and take quite a walk. I recommend getting a hotel as close to the mountain as possible or one near a bus stop. The main mountain is also more for intermediate and pro levels. So if you're looking for leisure skiing or are a beginner or have children, drive to buttermilk mountain or snow mass. There will be less tears. And more parking.

Great location and good deal

This hotel was great for me and my two kids. We could walk to everything in town from here. The staff was VERY friendly and helpful. The furnishings and decor were dated but in very good condition and nice and clean. An expanded continental breakfast was included and while not anything special it is definitely a perk to have it included, especially with kids who want to eat as soon as they get up. Did not use the hot tub. Rooms might be a little cold in the winter. This place has an old ski lodge feel with big common living area.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Finbarr's Irish Pub and Kitchen - Modern Pub food (a.k.a. healthy and creative in addition to the old standards). Something for everyone. Reasonably priced. Great atmosphere for dinner. Big Fire in fireplace. On the walking mall. Down in the basement but NOT dark and dingy - bright and cheerful inside. Contemporary decor.

Convenient location

I was in town for the Food & Wine event, and I found the location of the hotel to be very convenient. The staff was helpful, and my room was spacious and clean. The only thing missing is a pool; although the hotel does have a hot tub.
