Okay
The room was clean, smaller than was expected, we to get an ocean view room paid extra for got the last room on the 10th floor with partial view of of ocean. TV didn't work very well got fuzzy and cut out while watching it. When called down to the resturant to make a reservation for dinner was hung up on twice before we were able to make a reservation. Can hear train going by all night and a band started playing early on sunday morning at 7am which sounded outside our window. Was startled awake after being out til 2 in the morning the night before.

Crown of Thorns Plaza
Upon our arrival, we had high hopes for the high rise, BUT after staying there - I would say it had a thirteen story view and basement quality. Now, let me explain: - way over priced, better and more affordable hotel across the street with far better rooms and about $60.00 a night cheaper. (...plus a comp breakfast and happy hour!) - deceitful/and certain rude front desk staff. The promised prices or discounts were not adhered to. Their billing mechanics were horrible. (parking fees were added...but we did not have a car. We had to stand at the front desk to argue their reasoning behind the deceitful parking charges, which were finally removed! - Housekeeping services were far less than expected...no clean towels? Really? - The acclaimed "C Street Cafe" would not make it on triple D!...we learned the chefs had all just quit! Happily moved to the Country Inn and Suites

Great location, a little noisy
Loved the location and proximity to the beach...but I don't know if I'd stay there with my little ones because of the train noise. The freeway noise drowns out the sound of the waves too. Room was clean and room service was speedy.

Paying for the name
We were attending a wedding and also utilized the occasion as a weekend away fro the kids. We got a king size bed. [...] With it being the Plaza, I was expecting beauty and luxury. My husband has lived in CA his whole life and told me the hotel was bought from Holiday Inn. When we arrived it was very apparent. It looked as if nothing but the logo on the building was changed. Very plain carpet, furniture, linens, fixtures, etc. I was NOT at all impressed. For the wedding, the room was very plain, the food was plain tasting. It felt like I was in a Holiday Inn. If I were to be asked what my weekend was worth....$89.00 for the night. This wknd was a splurge for us. $129 was pushing it, I was expecting a NICE room. Step it up Crowne. Not staying there again. Go check out the Hyatt in Valencia. There rooms are worth $129 per night and they aren't located at the beach. If that is what you are charging the extra for, that's not fair.

Ventura Crowne Plaza Hotel stay
The room was clean and it had a nice view of the pier. only draw back was the Ventura County Fair had just started...at last found parking in the hotel lot but did not dare move the car to go to dinner for fear I would not find a parking spot. I guess the hotel was so full or others could use the lot for fair parking. All in all it was a nice stay.

Not Living Up to Its Hype
The hotel is in a great location, right on the beach, and we've stayed there before. However, this time, our room was not worth the money. It was on the second floor, with a tiny balcony that overlooked the roof of the first floor, including the cigarette butts from previous vacationers. The bathroom was a small closet, and on the wall, where usually there is a light switch, was a bare metal bracket. As there wasn't a hair dryer in the room, I assumed that the bracket at one time held the hair dryer. Unfortunately, the placement of the bracket was right where my children would reach to turn on the light, cutting their hands more than once (the light switch was up high, in the middle of the wall). The beds were uncomfortable, and the parking difficult. They have a small lot next to the hotel, but it fills up fast. There's another public parking building on the other side of the hotel, and the hotel will validate, but we had already paid to park in the closer and more open lot. The public lot was dark, and with the children in tow, my wife was glad I was with them. Overall, the entire family was disappointed in our accomodations. When we had stayed previously, the room we were given was larger, as was the bathroom, and the staff were more helpful. Granted, it was four years ago, but I wouldn't have expected it to change as drastically as it did.

great views
the location is perfect, the hotel is clean and rooms are comfortable. The air conditioners are noisy one of the only drawbacks. The traffic from the 101 and the train can be hear but it is more background noise. The only problem I had was with the volume on the television- the hotel channel was very loud and the other channels were to low to be heard from the bed, you had to stand next to the tv to hear the weather channel. I told someone about it one morning and it wasn't fixed, that night I called but no one came up to fix it, the next day I stopped at the front desk and asked to have it looked at. It seemed the volume control was locked at a certain level and could not be adjusted. They changed out the tv, but the tv they hooked up had a little better volume control but had a loud buzzing sound. Next time I stay I will check the room first. Everyone was friendly, the bed and pillow were comfortable and it was nice to open the sliding window to see the ocean and smell the ocean breezes. I would stay again. the restaurant has an extensive menu and good service.
