One night stay in Ventura for a mini VACAY

After searching for a hotel for hours I found this one and enjoyed my stay. The rooms are incredibly clean and the beds are so comfortable. For a one night stay I enjoyed myself very much with my mom. We wanted to just get away from LA for the day and this hotel was very nice. I'm already missing the warm, comfy beds!

Get-away for Thanksgiving

The Manager checked us in. I was very happy that the grounds was all smoke-free. There was a small area for smoking guests. The room was large just like all older motels were...not like the save-space, up scale monsters I have been here in Ventura. There was a great wide/flat screen TV that featured almost 100 channels. The room looked like an upscale hotel and had four pillows per bed. Very nice! The room was spotless a great job by housekeeping staff. The bathroom was exceptional. There was tile on the floors, the tub and the beautiful area under the large mirror. The tub was polished so brightly that it glowed. The wall paper was unique and matched the color of the bathroom perfectly. The towels were very large and thirsty. There were four of their large bath towels in the room. The bathroom light had a unique feature that sensed when you were coming into the room with a green light which came on dimly so as not to disturb others sleeping. The beds were very comfortable and we slept well. I did not hear any vehicle noise during the night when we had the windows closed. The motel was close to downtown and had a park like setting. Their continental breakfast was really good - had waffles and boiled eggs and a lot of other foods. I HAVE FOUND MY NEW PLACE IN VENTURA!!!

Ventura

The motel was full and we were the last people to check in for the night. We were only there for 12 hours. The staff was friendly and the room was quiet and clean. Good alternative to santa Barbara rates.

My Review

The Best Western was a good hotel to stay at overnight. I was here for work & only stayed for one night. The inside of the rooms actually are better than what one might think from the outside. The amenities are good. They serve a pretty complete continental breakfast. You are within walking distance from downtown Ventura & the beach.

Ok

Hotel was ok. From the outside, looks a little disappointing but the room on the inside was actually very nice. Best Westerns usually provide the best continental breakfast with fresh-made waffles. Did hear the train a couple times but it never woke me up or kept me from sleeping. What I don't understand is why they insist on occupying all the rooms in the back when the hotel is not full if that's where you can hear the train the loudest. If the hotel isn't full, they should gives the guests the room toward the front of the hotel.

Excellent Stay

Front desk is very friendly. The room is wonderful. In our room, there was a desk located behind a small wall next to the bathroom, so one person may work on the computer or writing papers and not disturbing the other person's sleep. Great design! WiFi signal is great for computers but not so with the hand held devices.

Be careful hotel.

Hotel clean, but very old. The train station train passed about 100 yards in the back of the hotel. The train came by twice that night we stayed there.

NOT QUITE WHAT WE EXPECTED...

We picked this hotel because it was between the Camarillo outlets and Santa Barbara and way cheaper than SB. Unfortunately, when we arrived we realized the hotel backs up to Highway 101 AND train tracks (and several LOUD trains did roll through during our one nights stay). The bedding and curtains were ugly and old which didn't match the obviously updated furniture and bathroom. If you're looking for a romantic or family oriented place to stay...look elsewhere. If you just need a place to crash and are a deep sleeper, this is the place for you.

Pleasant Stay

I have stayed at this motel before. It is a very standard type of 1960's motel, although they have renovated and updated the rooms. I felt the rooms were clean and serviceable. The microwave, refrigerator and WiFi were a plus. I would have liked a table with chair. The desk was okay to work on but the chair was too low and the top of the desk was at my chest level. They need to rethink that option. Without the table in there an easy chair would have been nice. I like this location alot because it's an easy walk to the beach and the strand as well as the downtown area where there are great shops, restaurants and a multiplex theater. It's also easy to get on the freeway. If you are prone to noise sensitivity, try to get a room closer to the street but not next to the pool. There's a freeway and train tracks on the back side of the motel which CAN be heard, especially by rooms on that end. The desk staff were superb and friendly and I loved the fresh cookies daily! The breakfast was fine...bagels, muffins, toast, cereals, waffles and pastries. Fresh fruit also. This place is nothing special but it is clean and comfortable. However; if I paid more than $80 a night I probably wouldn't be that content.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

There's a foot bridge that takes one over the freeway the beach. It's an easy walk. Ask the front desk how to use it and where to find it. It saves time!
