great place for skiers

The room was warm and clean. Shower was warm. The hotel is close to a lot of restaurants. You get discount for some of the restaurants for staying at this hotel. This is the second time we stayed at this hotel. We had very positive experience both times. The staff at the front desk is very friendly and helpful. The only thing that can be improved is the breakfast, which currently is just packaged bakery goods and beverages. Still, not a reason to subtract one star.

A descent place for the right price!

The ABVI has a great location in Tahoe City. There are plenty of restaurants, pubs, and markets in wakling distance. The room was clean and average for the price. Nothing spectacular but for $91/ngt I wasn't expecting the Ritz. Since most of today's technology needs charging these days, it would be nice to have a bank or at least an outlet available for charging my phone, computer, Go-Pro, and camera batteriies. The only outlet available was in the bathroom. This seems to be the case in many older motels. I skied at Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows. It was a short drive to both.

OK Stay - Good North Tahoe Location

Room was ok, facing back of property overlooking golf course. Clean, comfortable bed, rather small bathroom but ok with small shower stall. Near hall icemaker so lots of noise when someone gets ice. Occasional noisy neighbors but not all night long. Overall an ok stay for 3 nights. Great location in central Tahoe City, walking distance to stores, restaurants, shops. No traffic noise and no loud parties.

Ready to be demolished!

Tiny room, peeling paint, mismatched everything - no decor, bathroom window opened into an alley with garbage in it, pool in the middle of parking lot with a bar next door. When we checked in the older man at the front desk was super rude and didn't even want us to let our dogs out of the truck, he was snappy, didn't smile and made notes on our check in card about the dogs... When we checked out, the older woman at the front desk was in the same mood as the older man, no smiles, no thank you and come again, etc. etc. The so-called breakfast in the front lobby was a joke - coffee and bananas! The room rate was way too high for this quality of hotel. It is a disgrace that they use the words "America's Best" in their name. This was the worst place we stayed at during our week long getaway... Only good thing was the 10% discount we got at Rosies Restaurant down the street where the Calamari was the best we have ever had. Not impressed with the "better than thou" attitude of the big grocery store down the street either. Won't be back to dump my $$$ in that town too soon!!!

comfort at reasonable price

HyThe room was comfortable and fairly quiet. The clerk at check in was pleasant and helpful and gave us a discount card for local restaurants as well as his personal recommendations. The heater in the room cycled on frequently which was annoying, but when we turned it off the room stayed comfortable even though it was freezing outside.

Super location

A good hotel in a great location. The hotel itself is not something to write home about - the pool is in the middle of the parking lot, the windows open to a hallway instead of the outside air, and the rooms are on the small side, but you can't beat the location across the street from the Tahoe City lakefront public park and within a short walking distance of numerous restaurants and shops.

Park your car. You won't need it to shop, rent boats, swim in the lake, or take a walk alomng the lakeshore.

OK

the location of this hotel is what saves if, right across from beautiful lake Tahoe. Waliking distance from various shops, restaurants etc. Bit aged, although clean and for the most part comfortable. Had my stay been longer I think it would have gotten to me more.

Simple and to the point

Nice motel, standard room. Had free wifi and a small "breakfast". We did book 3 adults (went up snowboarding) and got a room with one king bed. The staff was nice enough to give us 2 rollaway beds, no extra charge.
