Good room, common areas run down

I chose this hotel because the price was less than half of many other choices in the area, and from a previous stay, I knew that the room itself was just fine. On this stay, the room was also good. The common areas of the hotel are getting run down and seemed rather desolate - but since I tended to arrive late evening and leave early morning, that may have been an artifact of the timing. For my purposes - a place to sleep while not working - the value was excellent.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

The Chinese restaurant in the nearby shopping area on Lawrence is good.

Rooms not horrendous, but seedy with poor service

The hotel is in a strange area near a strip mall and major highway exits, but still feels remote enough to be unsafe. It's reminiscent of hotels I've stayed at in industrial areas near airports, but without the proximity to the airport. While it wasn't the worst hotel I've stayed at - not much in the way of bugs, stains, stray hairs, etc. - it certainly felt dank. Pillows and bed were comfortable. The room was small with insufficient space to hang clothing. The staff was generally rude and unhelpful, though at least willing to acknowledge that for Sushi, you're better off not eating at the hotel restaurant.

Horrible experience

The hotel is a nightmare. Rooms not clean, you can find hair on the bed sheet, dusty carpet, and noisy environment. Changed 3 rooms and still not ok.

Not what I expected or desired

The hotel is under construction and mattresses stored outside all over the place; place is run down, rooms are below par in condition for the price. Had I known I would not have made the reservation. Pictures and actuality don't match. Just to run down over time. Maybe a face lift is coming but looks like months away if that. Prices too high for the value. Courtyard area, pool is nice and private; place has potential if owners care to invest. No or little road noise.

Business trip to Sunnyvale

The hotel is conveniently located off the main 101, so getting a jump on local traffic is a big plus as when traveling on business the Silicon Valley traffic is a big concern. The room was not ready for me upon my arrival and had to wait several hours until I could check in, that was disappointing as it stretched into late afternoon before I was allowed in. Unfortunately, that set the tone for my stay there.

Trying? Not so Much

Second time staying there. Price and location are the driving forces. They seem to be trying to improve. New flat screen TVs and bed covers and WiFi coverage improved. Unfortunately the TVs are programmed incorrectly and not all local channels (Fox 2) are available. In-room TV "channel guide" wasn't updated. Room wasn't made up by 4:30pm Saturday. I walked down the walkway and got some coffee supplies from the housekeeper working on another room. She apologized...but obviously some staffing issues. Carpet is horrible. Pillows lumpy. But towels were softer than my first visit. Love the shower head! In a pinch due, to price and location, I would stay here again...with price being the major factor. With their proximity to the 49ers new stadium, if I were the management, I would do whatever it takes to upgrade everything before it opens.

There are plenty of other hotels, you've been warned

This place is horrific! It's a motel 6, but worse. (really, thought that was impossible) The Area: It is next to the Mercado center but if you go beyond that, the surrounding area is not upscale whatsoever. There are some suburban homes around but other apartments and liquor stores too...not ideal. The Room: The structure are very old and dingy, everything looks like it's from an 80's movie. The carpets were extremely worn, and disgusting, what I call a "FLIP FLOP HOTEL" because, like camping, I would highly recommend you do not touch the carpet with your feet. The bathroom, was very dirty, I swear I was worse going out of the shower than going into it. The walls are made of glass, very unsafe and quite exposed. The Staff: They were very friendly. No complaints there. The "Free" Breakfast: Very simple, nothing to write home about, it consisted of cereal, some sausage, toast your own english muffins, some fruit juice, and peeled HARD BOILED EGGS! The only neat thing is that they have a waffle maker, one, for ALL the guests. You have to wait in line a long time to even use it. The Price: Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyy over priced. I've stayed at way better hotels for less. Pick a different one, stay away from this place.
