Like something from a sitcom
What was this building before it was a hotel? Surely it could not have been constructed as a modern American hotel! The current owners put their capital into the exterior, which is impressive looking. However, the room was another story. The first sign of trouble was the clerk charging me $2.19 service fee for a room prepaid via this website. The total charge was still only about $40, but this place is nowhere as good as the major chain that charged me about $40 in the San Joaquin Valley. The corridors were narrow, the door to the bedroom was narrow. The bed, with no headboard, had a plywood board instead of a box spring. The blanket had 2 holes in it, with no bedspread, so the covers provided for sleeping were inadequate. The tiny room had a desk with no finish on it that was too close to the bed for a chair to fit. There was a round table with chipped edge that had two folding chairs. I sat in the one without dried chewing gum on it! The bath facilities were mostly shared. The shower room was okay, but the toilet room, essentially a men's rest room without the urinals, had two tiny stalls. One of them had the door opening inward. Only a thin man could get in because the door struck the commode when halfway open. I had to squeeze between the door edge, the toilet paper dispenser and the front edge of the commode to get into the stall! The room did have amenities. There was a microwave oven on top of a mini-fridge in the closet! The tube-type TV was mounted above the unfinished desk. However, when I tried to change channels with the remote control, the TV shut off. I found I had to use the buttons on the front of the TV. Surprisingly, the hotel did have free Wi-Fi. However, the signal was weak in the room, so I carried my laptop downstairs to the lobby to use the internet. There was a bathroom basin next to the door with fancy new lights above the mirror and a new gold colored faucet. I think the capital would have been better spent elsewhere. The enamel in the basin itself was cracked. When I tried to brush my teeth in the morning, rust contaminated water came out of the fancy new faucet! I went down the hall to the men's toilet room to use the basin there. When I opened the curtains, I found the coup de grace. The view was of the stucco wall of the next building! An optometrist's office occupies that building.

If you need a bed on the cheap, go here.
Park around back--not in front. They give you a parking permit to put on the dash. This place is old, but in a good way. It's a piece of history. The room I had included its own bathroom, some rooms share a bathroom. The room itself was pretty small (maybe 8 by 12 or so), but I was not bothered by it. It had a mini fridge and microwave! Of course, for 35 - 45 dollars a night, it's not the hilton. But if practicality is beauty to you, this place is beautiful.

Dont expect too much, you get what you pay for
This hotel is ok to stay if you are in town for a weekend, or if you do not care too much about the amenities, there is a closed room and a bed, the shower and restroom was down the hall, I was only there for a night and the shower was available when I needed to use it.

Good location and very cheap. That's it!
We stayed at a room with en-suite bath. The only good thing about this place is the location, 2 min walk from the Caltrain station and 5 minutes walk from Target. The room has microwave & small fridge. I don't mind budget hotels with simple furniture etc. BUT it has to be clean. Everything here is dirty, really dirty. Including the blanket. Blanket also comes with a few holes on top of dirt spots which I spotted the second I entered the room. Very small room, with a few bags could not really walk around properly. Yes, it has a closet and you can use it if you wish (we tried to avoid contact with anything in here and we are not overly squeamish). Wear and tear? Yes, this room defines these terms. Frankly, we were glad that no rats were crawling over us. I don't know who gave this hotel 2* but this decision maker should not be doing this job. This hotel should be out of business. This is Sunnyvale, not an Indian or Brazillian slum.

My experience
The European room with common restroom & shower was a little different than what I've been use too. The price was perfect, it fit my pocketbook to tee. And the location was perfect, it made it easy for public transportation, especially caltrain for traveling the peninsula.
