This 262-room, lakefront property is located on seven acres in the heart of South Lake Tahoe. A 500-ft beach, 1000-ft pier, two restaurants with indoor and outdoor dining, and breathtaking views make this an oasis in the center of town. The Boathouse Restaurant on the Pier has the best sunset views around. Each room has a balcony or patio and an in-room fireplace, and many are beachfront. The hotel hosts weddings and events that are planned and catered in-house. The Beach Retreat provides the perfect balance of recreation and relaxation without guests ever leaving the excitement and energy of South Lake Tahoe.

Beachfront hotel

Best part is the easy access to beach area in lake! Kids love it. Room and other amenities are tolerable but the location is perfect to relax.

Mixed Emotions About Our Stay

We have stayed at this location before when it was the Best Western Timber Cove lodge and LOVED it. They had an amazing complimentary breakfast, spa open year round, extremely friendly staff & there was never any question if we were going to be charged "extra" for something. Now that it is owned by someone else it was a very different experience. They have been remodeling their lobby since January- it was a mess & we registered in this little room. The front desk person was unpleasant & did not care about how disappointed we were to learn that though it was 70 degrees & the pool looked great, they would not be opening it; that the year round spa was closed; that they no longer provide the extravagant complimentary breakfast, no breakfast at all. Had we known this, we would have looked elsewhere for the $300 we paid for two nights. The rooms were nice & when you choose Lake View- they mean it. That part of it was wonderful. We called a week in advance to see if they had mini fridges- we were told no but they can bring one to our room at no cost. When we called to have one sent, I verify that & the gentleman told me "uhh, you shouldn't be..." I want a straight answer & not some surprise charge at checkout. There was one staff member who was pleasant & we appreciated that- because the rest were not. We were gone all day on Saturday & returned around 3, to see that our room still had not been tidied up. They have a lot of work to do here & it's a bummer that the new owners have decided to change so much about somewhere that was so great!

Misled

First I do want to say the staff was very accommodating and friendly. The Location was nice, especially after they upgraded our room to a full lake view. Considering the place was almost vacant and the room advertised a "Lake View" we were pleased. However..unless you are on the top floor you will be bombarded by the noise of anyone staying above you. Because of this we asked to be moved to the top floor the following day. We were not told about the renovations on "any" of the websites we visited. No Lobby, no outside fire pit, no pool, no jacuzzi, and no on site restaurant in the hotel. All shut down. There is a nice restaurant on the pier nearby but :very: pricey. If we could have gotten a refund we would have left. We hope the place will be GREATLY improved with all the renovations but this soured our stay. I did call several time in advance but was never told about the shut down. We drove 8.5 hours to get there. Sorely disappointed.

Great beach access.

Great location on the beach. Under construction so some amenities were not available, hence the 3 rating. Gas fireplace in room was a very nice touch, though families with young children should be aware that they are very hot to the touch and low enough for any toddler to reach. First floor room was a bit noisy for someone used to near complete silence at home. Lake view and walk out access to the beach were fantastic.

Better to stay in DaysInn

Not a good choice to stay. I would rather stay at Days inn than this hotel next time. Since it costs more, we expect it would good. But it's not. The reason as follows:- 1. I booked a Lakeview King room. What I got is a partial view of the lake only from the balcony. When I asked them if there is a better room from where I can have a better view of lake, the front desk lady said it will cost $40 extra. 2. The room didn't have a king bed. It was a queen. When I told front desk about it, she said its a different sized king. lol. King doesn't come in different sizes (ex cal king). I don't like people to be such liar on face. I will call that girl a bit**. 3. There was a old tv CRT. Compared to most hotels now days have LCD. 4. There is not bath tub. No microwave. 5. Noise : you can hear people walking on the alley, on upper floor or even the intimate relationship the next door is having. 6. I don't think after all those above things anyone would like to pay $150+tax for this kind of room.

Wonderful place to stay

We loved this hotel and strongly recommend it. The room was quiet --very hard to find in Tahoe. The view from the beach is breathtaking and there is access to the beach where you can walk for miles. The restaurant at the end of the pier - the Boathouse-- is memorable. We enjoyed the fitness room. The only thing missing was a jacuzzi. Great value for the price.

Three time in one year to stay in the same hotel

Over the years, we come to South Lake Tahoe many times. Finally, we settle at this hotel. It is very clean. It is close enough to shipping, and far enough from the crowded busy places. In summer evening, I lay down in a chair at their private beach, watching the sky, listening to the wave sound from the lake. In winter time, it is convenient to all ski resorts. The only thing that I am not satisfied is, it only has two double beds in the room. It is hard to share the bed with kids.

Nice location but terrible hotel

The hotel is in the middle of a much needed remodel! Once the work is all done, I think it would be a great spot. It is right on the lake and a 5 minute drive to the Casinos.
