Queen Motel
I went up for a great snowboarding weekend. I didn't like that the heater took 1 1/2 to heat the room and there was also a funny smell. In the past my trip up to tahoe were great, but it would of been better if the room had better heating.

Lucky to be alive
First off, if you are looking for just a cheap place to stay in a good location to the gondola and casinos, this one fits really well. Second, besides the manager the people that help out there seemed to try to be very friendly and accomodating. That being said, the manager is a drunk and was passed out so we couldn't check in the first night. After trying to wake him, we gave up and went to a different hotel. The next night, we got woken up early in the morning because the manager passed out again and left his oven on causing a fire (almost burnt the place down)

Filthy rooms and drunk manager
We arrived at the hotel in the nick of time - one worker was on his way home because his boss, the manager, locked him out of the office. After ringing the doorbell multiple times and knocking very loudly on the window over the course of 15 minutes in the cold, a horribly drunk man finally came to the window and was so confused to open the door. His employee helped us, but informed us the 2 queen room we had reserved days before wasn't available, but 2 fulls were. Not a huge deal, but still disappointing. The rooms themselves were filthy. There were thick black hairs in the shower and on the bathroom floor, stains on the towels, and trash on the floor dated June 2008. I can only assume that the last time the room was cleaned was well before that date. I would have asked for a refund in the morning, but there was no one in the room to complain to, and considering the drunk manager was the main problem, I didn't know who to complain to if I were given the chance. Though it was a great location (2 blocks from casinos) and less expensive than some others, I would not go here again or advise anyone else to. I'd rather sleep in my car.

The real bad & real ugly
There was nothing good about the motel, service was not good, rooms smelled real bad - the bedding had a very bad smell to it - mattress looked about 30 years old.

Just the facts Ma'am
I was prepared for the worst by reading other reviews....it was not the worst, and what is wrong with the place is only slightly owner/management fault, a costly remodel would make this place rock!!! It is 1950ish built, with 1970ish decor...thin walls, old floors, carpet etc... however as clean as it could be with the aforementioned faults. Staff was very friendly, and helpful, neigbors were typical idiots that forget they are not the only people on the planet...if you are just looking for a cheap, clean place this is it. If you are looking for frills and a memorable vacation resort, this is not it. Do not expect large fluffy towels, bath robes and a mint on the pillow for these rates. You get what you pay for. No iron, tiny towels, no hair dryer, no air conditioning-be prepared. Bring your own if you are the type that thinks they should be pampered while at a hotel... if you are just on vacation and it doesn't matter then you will do just fine! After all, you need to conserve money for the casinos! Has a pool and a hot tub, two blocks from Harvey's and Harrah's, one block off the main drag, shopping etc...great location, neighborhood looks sketchy however, it was just fine. Single woman walking on her own all different hours of the night, not a problem occurred. Don't expect much and you will not be disappointed. Most importantly - HAVE FUN!

THE WORST MOTEL IN AMERICA
The very first night there we were woken up around 1a.m. by the sound of the manager screaming [...] as he threatened someon out in the parking lot. As we found out during the rest of our stay, all of the upper level of this establishment [...] stay up and party all night until the early morning. I WOULD NOT REFER THIS PLACE TO ANYONE. THE ESTABLISHMENT IS SUBSTANDARD AS SO ARE THE STAFF. I AM APPAULED THAT THIS SO CALLED MOTEL IS EVEN BEING OFFERED ON VACATION WEBSITES SUCH AS ORBITZ.

As low class as you can get. Would never stay there unless demolished and totally rebuilt.

Not too shabby
Wonderful service for a two star motel! I thought "Oh no, this place will be awful" but it was actually really great! That is besides our noisy neighbors and thin walls. But other than that it was great. The staff was very helpful and friendly, immediately telling us where the manager could be reached at all times! We didn't spend alot of time in the room which is what we had planned on from the beginning so it fit my and my husbands needs very well. (The showers are not meant to have two people in at the same time though) It was 3 blocks to the private lakeside beach and 2 blocks to the heavenly village shopping center, casinos, and bars which was perfect and helped keep gas bills to a minimum. Overall I was very happy with my stay at the Tahoe Queen and plan to stay again next summer!

Sightseeing tip:
Short walk from hotel
Ask for a lakeside beach pass when you first arrive! It's a private beach meant for the motel and surrounding motel guests. You can only get the pass if you ask for it though as they don't present it up front. Make sure to bring a jacket though! When the sun goes down you will freeze!
