Not bad for the price and the location
Great location, close enough to walk to State Line Nevada. The motel is very old and smells of cigarettes. More than adequate for the price. Just fine for sleeping and showering on a short stay.

YOU KNEW IT
Alright
The hotel is very friendly and in a great location. Very cozy feeling with new windows and appliances. The furniture is very old and rugged but the bed is very good and comfy. The shower is big and the water is nice and warm. The heater also works very well. Has good wireless internet and is in walking distance of IHOP and McDonalds. Very good place to stay if you have come to gamble or to ski. I'd say it is good for it's price and you can't really beat that.

Good hotel for transient laborers
The hotel is old worn and shabby, the carpet has stains from workboots that wear a path from the door to the bed to the bathroom. There is someone's initials carved on the wood paneling. The room was clean, but shabby. It is a good value for the 20 dollar price, especially if you are not picky. I sensed a scam when I checked in because they offered to show me the room I reserved, and an "upgraded room". When I said that I would take the room I reserved, and that I was not interested in looking at the "upgraded room", they gave me the "upgraded room" anyways. Sounded like a scam to me.

Pinewood Inn
Was a pretty run down establishment with some interesting finish work performed to hide the flaws. I was woken up by staff telling me I needed to pay for the next night even though I already paid. :( There are better places to stay in Tahoe for around the same amount.

Great deal
Clean rooms, helpful staff, great price. Luxury hotel it was not, but for a comfortable, inexpensive place to stay, especially if you aren't planning on spending a lot of time in the room, it's a good choice. No complaints whatsoever.

Why pay more if not in the room?
Quiet, comfy hotel; just a short drive to the casinos. Of course you could stay in a large, spacious casino room for much more. But if quiet, peaceful surroundings with comfy beds in a small room with microwave, mini-fridge, bath with shower and extra towels, and a closet to hang clothes would fit your needs, this hotel was a deal. The staff was friendly and courteous. We liked the hardwood decor, and its modest setting fit our needs just fine. It was close enough to the casinos yet away from the direct hustle and bustle between the casinos. Don't expect a grand suite; but this finely met our basic needs. We would visit again.

Not a good value
The Pinewood Inn is a very old, and small motel. Overall, the room was fairly clean with the exception of the bathroom. The toilet was old and discolored. While it may have been clean it's appearance left me searching for toilet seat covers. There was also a dirty washcloth left on the floor, behind the door. This hotel is in dire need of updating; there was even carpet on the bathroom walls. I was there during a peak time and paid WAY too much for the accomodations. The beds were clean and the location was actually quiter than I thought it would be. It is close to the casinos. I'm definitely glad I only stayed one day and I'd rather take my chances with open availabilty once I get to Tahoe than reserve a room at this motel again.
