Needs some extras!
The room was nice but not much more than a basic hotel room. I loved the pool and hot tubs outside. Not many restaurant selections at the hotel although Fire and ice the only restaurant i saw at the hotel looked awesome Mongolian style cooking. didn't eat there though. My view was awful it was a view of the entrance where people load and unload. As beautiful as Tahoe is I must have had one of the ugliest views. Staff was great and friendly. Valet guys were awesome but valet parking is expensive at $26.00 a night for hotel guest. Probably won't stay again.

Nice place but here's the secrets
Overall I think this is a pretty nice place but here is a summary of the few issues we had: 1) the idea that it is a 'timberlodge" is really misleading. It has a nice entrance but the rest of the building is just like a regular hotel. This takes away from the expected mystique. 2) This hotel is currently doing a lot of renovation. Our room was on floor 3 - directly above all the construction on floor 2. I realize this kind of work must get done sometime but Marriott really should either notify the customer first or discount the rate. A place like Lake Tahoe has a lot of nightlife, which we participated in freely. That means we would like to be able to sleep some during the day and that just wasn't possible with all the noise from below. If you are out and about during the day this won't be a problem. Or just make sure you don't get a room directly above the noise factor. For us this was a rally big deal and we were very disappointed. 3) Parking - or the lack thereof. The hotel has no self park so if you bring a car expect to pay $25/day for valet parking. Also, you have to remember to call down to valet 20 minutes before you expect to leave so they can bring the car up. In some ways this is nice but it really is a pain the butt if you come and go frequently. 4) This is a Marriott vacation club property so EVERY day they call the room to try to get you buy into the timeshare. It's ok for them to ask once but we stayed for 6 days and they never did quite get the picture that we just weren't interested in buying into the timeshare deal. Again not a huge deal but why would they bother a customer every day. Just take no for an answer already. Now the good stuff: Location - This place is centrally located right in the middle of a lot of activities. Heavenly village has a lot of shops where yuo can buy anything from ice cream to clothes to spa packages. Very convientent and the casinos are within a very short walk. Activities for kids - we did not bring our child but if we do this again we probably would go back to the same place because there is a lot to occupy a kid. The hotel has stuff like the pool and organized activity. The village has mini golf and other kids oriented activities too. Food - Although the hotel restaurant is available there are a number of other restaraunts within easy walking distance. The is a grocery just across the street too and since the rooms have a kitchen we were took advantage of the convience and savings of just buying some breakfast and lunch food. Cleanliness - I'm not sure why the hotel is being renovated if the rest is like our room. It was clean and modern with everyhting you could ask for. The bed was great too as are most Marriotts. THe TV was a nice flat panel and the cable choices include several free movie channels. I don't know but it is possible that our unit was nicer than many of the others. Overall this is a pretty nice place but the negatives above kind of knock down the rating. To us the biggest issue is that we did expect to be able to sleep later in the morning and the noise factor really hurt. If it weren't for that they would get a muh higher rating.

Short drive from hotel
We went in the summer so we had access to a lot of recreation activities that are probably not available in the winter months. Go Hiking! The area around Lake Tahoe is absolutely beautiful. There are a variety of options some easy, some difficult but all have spectacular views.

Great but with some disappointment
Great place. Excellent location. Friendly staff. Great rooms. But the sheets were dirty with brown stains on the two nights we stayed. It was very disappointing and very disgusting. It spoiled the experience. Felt as if the hotel was pinching pennies by reusing old and dirty sheets.

The taste of Tahoe
Generally speaking, the hotel was great. There were coffee shops, restaurants, and convenient stores closed to the hotel. Moreover, it's located near the gondola and the state line between CA and NV which enables us to go and find attractions at the NV side when CA became so quiet at night. The hotel provided us with comfortable rooms, friendly staffs, and complete in-room amenities. Our stay would be more joyful if the hotel didn't charge us USD 24 for an overnight parking, included free breakfast in the room charge, and made the check-in time earlier while check-out later than 10 AM...it's unfair to force us to check in late and kick us out very early. 11 or 12 will be fine.

this place rocks!!!!
Our stay was outstanding. The weather sucked, but there is a movie theater right outside the hotel. We were in the area for a graduation ceremony and decided to stay here instead of Harvey's,right across the street, which is where we have stayed before. The staff here are extremely friendly and will answer any questions you may have. The only real downer was the fact that they kind of spring on you the fact that to valet park your vehicle costs $24 PER DAY. Other than that the place really is great. Highly recommended.

Unbeatable location for the price
The property is relatively new. The location is great, only 2 blocks from the casino district in Stateline, NV. The staff was very friendly andcourteous. We rented a villa which is like a 1 bedroom apartment complete with full kitchen, dining room rable, living room with flat-scrren TV and DVD payer, king size bedroom with jacuzzi tub and flat-screen TV/DVD player, and bathroom.

Great Family Place to Take a Break
Great location and nice room setup. We chose the one bedroom villa and it was perfect. The kids slept in the living room on the pullout couch and we had a kitchen to ease the hungry times.
