Super Hotel Stay

We came for another weekend stay for skiing. We had stayed at the Highland Inn before, and Jeff was very welcoming. We were in a different room on the bottom floor this time, but it was just as nice. When we discovered we were in need of an extra chair and suitcase rack, he came to the rescue immediately! We had a great weekend and the hotel was awesome.

Nice Hotel

My daughter and I came to Tahoe for a few days for skiing and relaxation. Check in was easy, and Jeff was so nice! He made sure we had the most quiet room, and was always available for any problems. The location is perfect, right in walking distance from the gondola. The bathrooms are freshly renovated, although they are a bit chilly (not if you turn the heat way up or put down a towel or rug!) The bed was comfy, and the fridge ACTUALLY kept things cold, even frozen. There's plenty of room for ski equipment, although the floor can get a bit wet because there is no door mat. Compared to previous stays at Motel 6, this place is a winner! We would definitely stay again, and recommend to friends!

Right next to Applebee's, so if you need a quick bite to eat it's very convenient! Also, the hotel is in walking distance from the gondola. No driving!

Pretty darn good

This place was just what we needed. It's simple, clean and well located. No bells or whistles but great for me, hubby and baby. For the price you can't beat this place. The staff was a little stoney but nice. Will definitely stay here again.

Convenient location friendly staff

I picked this hotel for its convenient location to the Gondola base. I walked over to the gondola each day I was there with ease. Applebees is right next door for a quick bite to eat, or you can walk across the street for more selections and a grocery store. The room itself was basic with 2 beds a fridge and a shower. The heater was powerful given the zero degree overnight temperatures. There were drafts coming in under the door and from the windows. Each night I put a towel under the door which really helped. Parking was tight with the big storm that had passed through the week before but there was always a parking spot. If you are looking for value and location this is a good option.

Sourpuss Guy

The hotel desk was manned by a grumpy chap who didn't seem too helpful even when the heater wasn't working. Yes, it was Lake Tahoe under freezing snow, and the heater wasn't working on both days until we told him about it. On one morning, there was a brief power cut as well. On the same morning, one of our friends' rooms didn't get hot water. The rooms are ordinary, furnished mostly with IKEA products. I've stayed at way better hotels at about 70% of the cost. But then again, this is Lake Tahoe, so I'm not sure what the standard is here. This is the only hotel I've stayed at around this area.

o.k., but I was expecting more

This place is o.k., and a decent value for the price. Although I thought there was a pool - and there was not. And I also was expecting a continental breakfast in the morning - nothing but coffee. It's a little loud being next to the main road in South Lake Tahoe. The room is nice and bed comfortable - though no carpetting - so that wasn't real comfortable. Kind of funky, interesting decor. I would not rate this place 3 stars - maybe 2 at best. It's o.k., but there are better places in town for the price.

Very clean room, customer service could be better

Was at Lake Tahoe for the Jul 4th weekend and stayed at Highland Inn for a couple of nights. Pros: 1. Room was very clean 2. Bed was comfortable 3. Great location - close (in walking distance) to malls, restaurants, casinos etc. 4. Feels relatively safe compared to hotels in the same class. 5. Widescreen TV, refrigerator, clean towels, extra soaps. 6. Wooden flooring. Cons: 1. Wifi was not working in the room. Had to go to the lobby for Internet access. 2. No fan (for ventilation) in the toilet but did not cause any noticeable trouble ;). Would have felt better if a fan was installed. 3. No hairdryer & microwave oven. 4. No breakfast 5. Front office/reception appears critically short-staffed. Same guy appears to be doing everything. 6. Babies stay for free. Overall, a good place if you are looking for a "no-frills" place to take rest and a hot shower. To the management: Pls make sure that Wifi is working- in this Internet age, being able to access Wifi Internet it is as important as eating breakfast in the morning. Oh wait, did I say that providing breakfast is also important?
