OK value for the money!
we enjoyed the unique charm of this place. The fixtures and decor were unique, a little scandanavian-ish, that was fun. The staff was nice. They advertise free wifi, but when i asked why it was not working the clerk advised it does work in the lobby but the signal will not reach the rooms due to the concrete brick walls. The bed was very stiff woke up a little sore each morning. Overall it felt safe, easy access to eveything, small and quaint.

OK for a night
This hotel was adequate. It was clean and reasonably comfortable. It was a no frills place with a good location to shopping and the casinos like Harrahs were in walking distance. The price was fair for a weekday but It drastically increased on the Weekend making it not so good of a deal. We decided to leave and go elsewhere for the rest of our stay.

The rooms are totally fine. The bed is comfortable enough. And the location is great. The staff however are really strange.

NIce clean room at a great price
We attended the Tahoe Celebrity Golf Tournament and were looking for a place to stay at the last minute. At lot of the rooms at the bigger hotels were booked and we found this motel for under $50 a night including taxes. We thought there must be something "wrong" with it and decided to read the online reviews. The reviews were quite positive and decided to go with it. We thought this motel was great for what we were looking for. It is a no frills type of place, with there being no pool, etc. The rooms were quite clean and seemed straight out of a IKEA display room. The location was perfect and easy walking distance to the stores, shopping center, and the golf course. We were very pleased and thought we needed to post a review of this great little place. We would have no problem paying almost double of what we paid. Very happy and will come here again if they keep prices competitive.

PLEASE READ THIS REVIEW!
This was the worst hotel experience I have ever had. During the 2nd night of our stay the hotel door malfunctioned and would not open from the inside! I kid you not, we were trapped in our room. We had to take the screen off of the window, reach out, and unlock the door from the outside with the key-card. When I complained to mgmt and asked to be moved they told me there was nothing they could do and suggested I leave my door open all night and keep reaching out the window to unlock the door...seriously?! They also told me this was the third time this had happened and they refused, even after many requests and a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, to give a partial refund or discount. I mean, what sort of hospitality business service does that??? Having us locked in the room was a serious fire hazard. The mgmt obviously has no regard for your comfort or safety and only cares about a few bucks. Do whatever you can to NOT stay here. Highland Inn = Dangerous.
