close to fun

Not bad, get room upstairs or you will hear people walk upstairs. Also AC is really loud. Seems like heater is ok so winter stay won't have that issue.

close to fun

If you stay on 1st floor you will hear your upstairs neighbors walking probably because there is no carpet in the room, just wood. No bathtub, shower only. Bed was decent. AC sounds like a helicopter so woke me up few times at night. Positive is that it's close to Heavenly Village. I would recommend to a friend only if they are not picky. Staff was nice.

Highland Inn

Lot's of small items need repair, some how the handle for the door put a gouge in the door, it could have been easily repaired. Top of the small "stuck through the wall A/C" was torn up for some reason. The A/C worked but the registers were stuck to one side so it couldn't be aimed. Bamboo floor, was ok but creaked, but didn't match the wanes coat on the wall. The shower is tiny and no counter around the sink. Bed was pretty soft but good. Could easily hear the people above you just walking around. But it's 3 blocks from the casino's.

Do not stay here!!!

The Front Desk clerk is clearly an alcoholic that has a bed adjacent to the Front Desk. The bed was at least comfortable. It is somewhat close to the casinos and attractions but to charge $135/night for a 2-star hotel off-season is ridiculous!!! There are NO amenities on this property, no pool, spa or restaurant on-site. It is very run down and not a pleasant place to stay. Being on the first floor you could hear everything in the rooms adjacent/above you. NOT recommended!!!

Relaxing weekend

Would have given 5star, except every time my wife turned her blow dryer on - circuit breaker tripped! After three trips down to the office to have it reset, the person on duty opened another room for my wife to finish drying her hair. Defiantly one for the memory book! Other than that a really nice rehab of an older motel!

Good location, clean room, horrible service

My friend and I arrived early hoping to check in early, there was no availablity, which was fine. We asked to use a restroom, and he rudely told us to go to Applebee's next door. No restroom for your own patrons?! When we got our room, the dead bolt lock didn't work. Since my friend and I are both girls, we didn't feel safe, when asked to get a room change, he said we are all booked, a part has already ordered, nothing he can do. Well, if you knew something is broken in your rooms, you should not be renting that room out. Otherwise, the room is clean and the inn is close to everything.

Great Hotel for Dogs

I booked a last minute overnighter to South Lake Tahoe and needed a lodging that could accommodate our dog. Highland Hotel only charges $20 for fido lodging and the rooms have wooden laminate floors in case an accident happens. The Inn itself is fairly standard. It appears that the rooms were renovated recently and the hotel look looks like it was coated with some fresh paint recently. There is some construction going on in the rear parking area but there is also plenty of areas to take your dog to the bathroom back there as well. Highlands in across the street from Heavenly Village so your a hop, skip and a jump from everything.

Good, but don't get there late!

Room was clean but was not serviced during our 2 night stay. Arrived late evening and the front desk clerk was beyond wasted and could barely unlock the door. He was friendly, but I would not have felt comfortable if I was by myself. Besides that, the room was better than you would expect for the price and you can't beat the location!

Good short stay

Good hotel for a short stay & price for the area. Stayed during off season so they had no housekeeping services, which seemed strange. Had to try 3 rooms before we found a clean one. Front desk clerk tried to help as much as possible by providing clean towels & other items we needed for our 2nd night stay.
