Days Inn South Lake Tahoe

The reception was excellent. Only 3 minutes walk to the lake-front.

Great location, Great price, Clean, Staff friendly.

I should say this was not the best of the hotels I have stayed in. But being a last minute planned trip the rates were already high and we had to settle for this days inn. The rooms were ok. Definitely not worth the 110 $ that I paid. If it was 70$ may be it would have been good. In any case don't have much to complain as we only had to stay for a night.

The hotel was simple and well cared-for. The room was clean and all the amenities worked as expected, but were of basic quality. The walls were somewhat thin, but there was little road noise and despite 1.5 ft of snow and sub-freezing temperatures the hot tub was open and ready for use. The front desk service was quick and attentive, and the free wireless allowed us to watch streaming Netflix in our room!

It appeared that because I was a discount customer I was given a less desirable room. I would not stay there again.

Our whole weekend was ruined by the behavior of the racist owners. On the day we were checking out, my husband, who is white, took our two year old son to the reception plus breakfast room, which was tiny and had only one table with 4 chairs. Or son, who is a typical toddler, scattered some brochures on the coffee table and my husband read the newspaper and left it on the table too. I came in with my mother, found there was nowhere to sit, no bread, no milk and only a couple of danishes left. My mother and I shared one danish and gave the other to the toddler and we asked for more bread and milk. When we left the tiny room, I made sure I had picked up all the plates, cups and food items and dropped them into the trash bin. When we checked out, the owner's wife was very curt even though I tried to engage her in friendly conversation. Later, after our Gondola ride, we realised that we had left our son's lunch bag in the hotel room. We drove back to the hotel, and I went into the reception room to ask for the bag. The lady said that we had left the bag and a big mess behind. Dumbfounded, I asked what mess we had left behind. She started berating me on my parenting skills and said we had a very badly behaved kid and that she had an unpleasant time cleaning up our "mess". When I asked again for an explanation, she said that we had left brochures and the paper on the coffee table. Flabbergasted that such a small transgression had provoked such vitriol, I asked her why she did not ask us at that time to straighten the paper. She started off again about my parenting skills and what fabulous grandchildren she had and shouted at me to get out. Upset, I asked my husband to come in, at which point she retreated to the inner room while shouting at me again to get out. Words cannot describe how upset I am with this woman's behavior. First, she did not have the guts to say these nasty things to my white husband, even though he was the one reading the paper. We have always chosen Days Inn, because we expect a uniform experience, but this is the last time we will stay at any Days Inn. The room was faded and noisy. One of the light switches kept shocking us even though we asked for it to be repaired, and the hairdryer was not working. We would have overlooked all this but for the outrageous behavior of this woman. She was probably upset that there was another large party of Indians staying at the motel. If they don't like non-white people, they should hang out a sign saying "Whites only" or "No colored people or inter-racial families".

The lady at the front desk was very nice and helped us promptly. We got 2 rooms for a very cheap price. We weren't expecting much since it was a Days Inn. We were pretty unhappy because there was hair left all over the bed. Gross! The towels looked stained and unwashed. Good thing we brought our own!

This was a good place to crash during a mid-week ski trip with a friend. The room was surprisingly large, which was nice for spreading out snow equipment and clothing to dry. The motel hot tub was on the small side and very close to the main road, but the price for the stay was very good. Basic continental breakfast. Walking distance to restaurants and drinks.

The price was right at this hotel for a great weekend get-away at Lake Tahoe. We were minutes away from snow play and Heavenly Ski Resort.
