Warm and homey family- and pet-friendly resort in scenic Lake Tahoe
A friendly staff greets guests at this homey resort. From the Big Pines Mountain House, it is a two-minute walk to the shore of scenic Lake Tahoe and a five-minute walk to the casinos, restaurants and shopping of Lake Tahoe Boulevard. The outdoor heated swimming pool (seasonal) is as popular as the private beach. Pets are welcome (fees apply).

Highlights
  • Walking distance to skiing, boating and golf
  • Access to private beach
  • Seasonal heated outdoor swimming pool
Rooms

The decor in the 70 spacious rooms is standard motel fare, with floral or velvet bedspreads and a small sitting area, but all rooms come equipped with cable television, a coffee maker, free Wi-Fi and free local phone calls. Some rooms have gas mini-kitchens and gas fireplaces. Guests also enjoy high-quality towels, linens and toiletries.

Features

After enjoying a complimentary continental breakfast, guests will want to curl up in front of a floor-to-ceiling stone hearth and gas fireplace in the lobby. With private beach access and a location that is walking distance from shopping and dining in Heavenly Village, the location is second to none.

Would stay again

I was very happy with the place. I had a kitchenette which was very helpful since I stayed there a few days. My dog even had a good time. The only down side was the blinds. It didn't keep the outside light out so my room was on the bright side. Great location a couple blocks from the beach and the casinos.

ski vacation

Good location, basic comfort if you want to ski/ shop in day time and just sleep here for the night; even includes a morning donut- wish it was a muffin, cereal, milk, juice, apple, granola bar and tea/coffee; located very near village shops and heavenly gondola. I think this was a very good choice compared to other similar accomodations in the area.If you want more of a night life- casino/ shows/a good dinner and better amenties, you are better off to stay at one of the nicer casino hotels.

good value ski trip

great value for ski vacation; good location near the ski gondola; simple breakfast includes milk, cereal, granola bars, apples and donuts; clean older rooms, good toiletries and clean bathrooms, working fireplace in room; picked up nice pine cones from around the hotel area!; heavenly village shops very close; can't beat the price and location if you are there primarily for skiing

Great Value, Just as Advertised

I was looking for something inexpensive, but still clean with decent accommodations. This place fit the bill perfectly. Booked it for $58/night on orbitz, which was as cheap as any place around. Room was spacious and very clean. The kitchenette is a big plus if it's available. Only rap was that the water pressure in the shower was weak. Don't let the fact that this place looks like the big Green Monster at Fenway Park dissuade you. It's a nice, clean, no-frills accommodation just two blocks from everything you need to get to in South Lake Tahoe.

Lots of places for good breakfasts in South Shore, but be sure to check out both Red Hut or Heidi's for an AWESOME breakfast.
