Warm and homey family- and pet-friendly resort in scenic Lake Tahoe
A friendly staff greets guests at this homey resort. From the Big Pines Mountain House, it is a two-minute walk to the shore of scenic Lake Tahoe and a five-minute walk to the casinos, restaurants and shopping of Lake Tahoe Boulevard. The outdoor heated swimming pool (seasonal) is as popular as the private beach. Pets are welcome (fees apply).

Highlights
  • Walking distance to skiing, boating and golf
  • Access to private beach
  • Seasonal heated outdoor swimming pool
Rooms

The decor in the 70 spacious rooms is standard motel fare, with floral or velvet bedspreads and a small sitting area, but all rooms come equipped with cable television, a coffee maker, free Wi-Fi and free local phone calls. Some rooms have gas mini-kitchens and gas fireplaces. Guests also enjoy high-quality towels, linens and toiletries.

Features

After enjoying a complimentary continental breakfast, guests will want to curl up in front of a floor-to-ceiling stone hearth and gas fireplace in the lobby. With private beach access and a location that is walking distance from shopping and dining in Heavenly Village, the location is second to none.

Modestly priced comfort

What you see is what you get here. It's simple, basic, clean, friendly....and very close to the reason many people come to South Lake. You are a very short walk from the village, the casinos, gear rental shops etc. I've stayed here many times and the rooms are always clean. I think this is one of the better values in South Lake.

We were put in the older section of the hotel that I think was not remodeled as recently. Very clean, liked the shampoo and soap, bed was very comfortable. The shower needs to be replaced, I felt like I was going to fall through the floor. The shower faucet dripped.

The Unexpected Room

The room is large, clean & well stocked. There were 5 pillows on each queen bed, very comfortable. The bathroom had 4 large bath towels, not the little ones some hotel provides that barely big enough to dry our behinds. The carpet is old but is clean. The room was stocked with microwave, mini referg, dining table & chairs, welcome basket(fee items), large dresser & a 20" TV. The morning coffee is plenty but not strong & not very hot. Other breakfast items are in good supply & tasty. The grounds are well kept. The stairs to 2nd floor had all weather carpet to provide sure footing. The lobby is clean. The hotel locates just a block from the Heavenly gondola, an easy 5 minute walk. The staff is polite. We enjoyed our stay & we shall return whenever possible.

Good location and clean, but poor PR

We had chosen this lodging because of its proximity to the lake, and past reviews highlighting its good value and cleanliness. Upon registration, when enquiring about facilities the hotel advertises as available to ALL the guests, we received rude and tonally unpleasant responses indicating that as we booked through your company we were excluded. The breakfast is minimal, even for this star rating. Our stay was for 4 days, and we had bought fruit and milk, which we stored in the fridge. The cleaners unplugged the fridge and so at the end of the day, all the food was spoiled! Disinterested responses from the staff. The room was clean, and it is centrally located. But this facet of our stay was disappointing, and as tourists, most unwelcoming!

The State Line Brewery is a must stop if you like beer and great food. We had the opportunity to visit with the Beer Brewer and really enjoyed our lesson on the locally grown Hops.

Worked Perfect for Concert at Harrahs

Hotel was clean and roomy. The front desk checked us in early even though the sign said they were not able to - appreciate it! Great location to the Concert venue at Harrah's - walking distance to everything you need in So. Lake Tahoe. Didn't get a chance to check out the beach access, but will definatly stay here again to check it out. Good place for the price.
