Owners have done a terrific job in updating and decorating. Very homey with lot's of personal touches that make it very comfortable. Great location - close to stateline but far enough away to avoid the congestion. Feels more like a neighborhood than a commercial area.

Short drive from hotel
Visit Taylor Park near Camp Richardson. The salmon are heading back up stream at this time of year and the bears are waiting. Fattest bears I've ever seen.

Excellent service and a fantastic place to stay!!
My husband had a hockey tournament in South Lake Tahoe and we picked the Alder Inn because it was close to everything including the rink. We were pleasantly surprised at how nice the room was decorated and how clean the hotel was. The pool and hot tub are great! The owner are some of the nicest people we have ever met. Chad and Layni were more than accommodating with the strange game schedule. Staying at the Alder Inn was like staying with family!!!! Thanks for a wonderful weekend and we will be back.

There were 6 family members (7 with infant) who came to attend a wedding in Tahoe. We had a fabulous time, one of the main reasons was having chose this place to stay.The Inn owners [...] were exceptional! The rooms, each and every one (we had 3 rooms) were decorated and furnished to see to your every need. I do not know where to begin in telling you how very comfortable they made us, or how much we enjoyed staying here - I can only say that we cannot wait to visit again.Look no further in finding a place to stay, and book this quickly as once the word gets out about the Adler Inn, the rush will be on ;-)GREAT INN, GREAT LOCATION & GREAT TIME!

Breakfast at the Red Hut was great!!!! Also, Cafe Fiore (Italian) small intimate dining. If visiting during the summer months on Friday's they have a great Farmers Market just a block away on Ski Run Blvd (9am - 2pm) do not miss!

Best Kept Secret in Tahoe
I am already trying to plan another trip to Lake Tahoe just to stay there. The rooms are beautiful, each is unique in design & decor. They made accommadations for us to have rooms side by side. The new pool/hot tub area is inviting. Our group(aunt's,cousins,neices) had breakfast & afternoon wine/snack by the pool. It was relaxing and welcoming. The owners make you feel comfortable from the check-in process to saying good-bye. No question or request is too much. On the weekends there is a continental breakfast available. [...] they do not have infant cribs. We were able to check the play n' pak(thank you SW airlines for free check bags).The hotel has bikes you can check out for free.The location is great, it is just 2 blocks from the water & Paddle Boat dock. Just less than mile from the casino areas, if you are looking for that.

Farmers Market every Friday 10am-2pm just 2 blocks up the street. Amazing fruits, veggies, breads, lavendar and beautiful jewelry. Great prices too. We ate at Red Hut Cafe(2 blocks) it was a fun breakfast/lunch location with large portions. I would stay away from the Zephyr Lodge, expensive & poor service.

The place was very nice, and the owners were very friendly. We only had one issue; the hotel is very close to a main street. It snowed while we were there and the snow plows woke us up around 7:30AM.

Nice place to stay
Convenient location just down the street from Heavenly's California Lodge; also, walking distance to the lake. Owners are very friendly and helpful. The hotel has some pet-friendly rooms, but call ahead to make sure you get one if traveling with pets. The only downside of our stay was very soft (probably due to age) mattresses in our room, but that could just be this specific room.
