Top of the class in wine country for hot springs
Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn and Spa is a grand world-class wine country retreat atop a natural artesian hot spring. Restorative healing mineral pools, a private golf course and the renowned Sante restaurant are highlights. Stately California mission architecture has been an enduring feature of this resort since it was established in the 1920s as a hot springs retreat. Fairmont Sonoma is located in the town of Boyes Hot Springs just five minutes to Sonoma and 15 minutes to Napa Valley.
Highlights
  • One of the only U.S. luxury spa resorts using its own source of thermal mineral water
  • Michelin-starred Sante restaurant
  • Sonoma Golf and Country Club
  • Award-winning green initiatives
Rooms
A massive architecturally accurate replica of a Spanish mission houses 226 rooms. Provence-style decor is fixed with modern amenities at Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn and Spa including Wi-Fi (fees apply) and flat-screen TVs. Marble and limestone bathrooms have plush towels, robes and cushioned slippers. Some rooms were renovated in 2010 with a double-size shower. Enjoy the complimentary bottle of wine while taking in balcony views of the 12-acre grounds.
Features
This full-service Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn and Spa does the outdoors in style. Enjoy three heated pools, exquisite palm tree patios, yoga and championship golf. The only reason to leave is for wine tasting, but that is here every afternoon for free.
Dining
Sante is the only restaurant in Sonoma Valley with a Michelin star and AAA Four Diamond award. Casual options for breakfast, lunch and dinner are available at a historic 1940s bistro. Savor the afternoon poolside with a caipirinha or visit the full Lobby Bar. Gluten-free food is available. Order room service until 11 p.m. at the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn and Spa.
Recreation
Fairmont Sonoma is home to a 40,000-square-foot European-style destination spa health club, the most comprehensive of its kind in Northern California. Try innovative treatments like a weightless massage or simply enjoy the healthfulness of resting in water heated 1,100 feet below the surface.

Pool Service has declined

This used to be my favorite getaway spot. Sadly, not anymore. The pool staff is slow, unaccomodating, mixed up, and forgetful. While I love to spend time at the pool, dealing with the staff has become unpleasant. I will be taking my business elsewhere.

Napa and Sonoma wine tour

My wife and I traveled to Napa and Sonoma for a week to visit the vineyards and stayed at the Fairmount. The resort has nice amentities, it is clean, and the staff were very service oriented. They recently redid the restaurants and lobby and the food was very good and reasonably priced for a resort. The pools are a nice feature because they are all fed from hot springs and have minerals in them. There are two pools by the spa that many people miss, but they are gorgeous and much more private than the main pool. The spa is gorgeous and the gym has the latest equipment. There were only a few negatives. First, is this resort is in a very unusual location. It is far from the action and you have to drive everwhere, but it's also in the middle of a neighborhood which has some interesting people around it. It's not what you would expect for a resort. You would never know this if you are in the resort because the grounds are beautiful and it is very quiet, but I would not walk too far at night. And I know this is really getting picky, but they really need to power wash all of the sidewalks and patios because everything has a green moss on it.

Sonoma Getaway

Our first trip to Sonoma. I thought hotel was closer to the main square. Quite far out but we made it work. Biggest surprise is there is no elevtor for the main hotel which is designated historic. We carried our bags up three flights. To be fair, we were asked if we wanted help but we thought there was an elevator. The room decor was dated and tired. Wine tastings were ok. Spa is world class and is why really makes this a good place to stay. Sante has great food and $$$$$. Staff were nice and helpful

Restful Family Vacation

The fairmont provided a break from the daily grind of east coast work. Atmosphere where we could niter act with our adult sons. A great resturant, wine tasting, and chairs to relax by a fire at night provided a great atmosphere.

Very nice and comfortable. Excellent if you want to stay at the hotel all day and participate in the activities there. However, if you plan on being at the Sonoma Square most of the time, it is a few miles away.

Nice old world style in Northern California

We enjoyed our BRIEF time at the Fairmont. It was a last minute decision and booking, so we weren't surprised to be given a less-than-amazing room. But we can't complain. I wish the heated pool was a bit WARMER (82 deg F doesnt feel super warm in the 45 degree chilly air!).

Loved It!

I loved this hotel. Very quaint, beautiful grounds Awesome spa, beautiful pools, and an absolutely wonderful staff. Everyone was so friendly and accommodating. My only negative would be the Sante restaraunt. Very over priced and food was "good" not great. Would definitely go to the hotel again. (And you get your exercise in by climbing 3 flights of stairs). If you go make sure to have breakfast at the golf course. Fabulous food and awesome view.
