Petersen Village Inn is a charming, European-style boutique hotel featuring 40 guest rooms in the heart of Solvang, California. Named by Sunset magazine as one of the "10 Most Beautiful Small Towns in the Western United States," Solvang's rich heritage dates back to 1911 when adventurous Danish-Americans traversed the plains from Iowa to establish a settlement in the golden state of California. Located in the heart of Solvang, Petersen Village Inn, Solvangs only four Diamond inn, is steps away from shops, bakeries, art galleries, sidewalk cafes, wine-tasting rooms, restaurants and much more. The renowned Solvang Festival Theater features Broadway favorites from spring through fall. Known as a family destination, the children will enjoy horse-drawn carriage rides, parks, Santa Ines Mission, ice cream shops and a myriad of festivals and parades throughout the year including the annual Danish Days every September. Guest rooms range from views of the delightful village of Solvang, inner courtyard shops, the surrounding rolling hills of Solvang and intimate garden rooms with patios. Breakfast (offered complimentary)and dinner can be enjoyed in Cafe Provence featuring Mediterranean cuisine and afternoon pastries, coffee, tea and fruit infusion waters in the cozy lobby. Wine tasting opportunities surround Solvang throughout the valley including vineyards and wineries in Santa Ynez, Los Olivos and Lompoc.

Quaint in the middle of Solvang

The hotel has the feel of a European inn. The staff is friendly and attentive. The décor and rooms are quaint. The beds were only moderately comfortable and the breakfast was sparse. Never the less, the hotel is ideally located for touring Solvang and provides a great "home base" location for a Santa Ynez Valley wine country tours.

Great One Day Trip

The staff. the room, parking availability, and being within walking distance of everything in Solvang made it a wonderful experience. Also did a little wine tasting which was a lot of fun.

Great quick getaway

Definitely on our list as the place to stay in Solvang. We had a queen courtyard view room that was very large. It's an older hotel, so no in-room coffee maker but 24-hour staff will bring you whatever you need. Pleasantly surprised to find out our stay included breakfast and two complimentary wine tastings at L&L. Great spot to start our wine tasting weekend.

A little bit of Denmark without going to Europe!

My husband and I had a lovely stay at the Peterson Village inn. The hotel staff were very accommodating, even helping us find places to hike in the area. The room was spacious and very comfortable, and the location in the center of town couldn't have been better. The continental breakfast, included with our room, was excellent - healthy fruit, granola and yogurt, as well as decadent Danish pastries from a local bakery.

The Mexican restaurant in Santa Ynez, Dos Carlitos, was excellent! Delicious, freshly cooked food at a reasonable price. The margaritas were also delicious!

I realize Solvang has a historical quality to it and I appreciate that the hotel sticks to the theme but it really needs a re-fresh. The wallpaper went EVERYWHERE...even in the closet. The pull-out couch has seen better days...it sunk in the middle. And really...why a bed you need a ladder to get in?? On the plus side, I thought the bedding (comforter & sheets) was very comfortable and people were nice. Free breakfast is always welcome! Nice soaps etc.

Solvang Experience

The Petersen Village Inn was truly amazing in every way from the moment you enter. From the small touches such as having a staff member escort you to your room to show you how everything works to having nice touches like fruit infused water and coffee available for guests. The only challenge was that there is no ice machine available and although staff would gladly bring up ice, coffee or tea 24 hours a day. We tried calling around midnight to get ice but were unsuccessful. It would be nice for them to find a place to put a small ice machine for self-serve.

Birthday Getaway

My experience at this hotel was just ok. The room looked nothing like the pictures on their website. My hotel room was very outdated and the carpet was stained and it even had a weird smell. It needs to be remodeled.
