Nice, clean hotel at good rate.
We have stayed here during the memorial day weekend. The rooms are clean and big. The complimentary breakfast is OK. They have refrigerator and microwave in each room which was very convenient. I will stay here again.

Ok hotel
It is not the best inn in Monterey. The wall mounted TV in the room was nice, other than that the room was not that special. The furnitures in the room seem a bit old and the room smell weird too. I probably will find another place next time. It is definitely not worth $140/night. There are probably better ones around that area.

a nice little motel
while driving up the 1, we stayed at the Sand Castle Inn for 1 night. The room was clean, spacious and comfy. At night, it wasn't too loud or anything, so I'd definitely recommend. Also, the room offers a fridge and a microwave

Overall: decent
Your ordinary motel. Definitely not a romantic getaway location, but quite adequate for crashing before your Monterey adventures. A bit pricey for what you get, but then everything in the area is pricey. The room was clean, had a flatscreen TV, there was free WiFi. There was complimentary coffee/juice/pastries/waffles for breakfast.

Short stop on way to Monterey
Room rates were competitive than other hotels in the area. The room appears recently remodeled with granite bathroom floor and around tub. The carpet appears new as well. The bed seemed old but ok. The big plus was having a flat screen TV, a microwave and a fridge in the room. ...but no coffee maker. Would be nice if the host would direct me to the location of my room more specifically, tell me about the hrs for breakfast, and the password to wifi when I checked in instead of me calling up later and ask. TV remote & telephone were filthy! Dresser was a bit old and drawers did not slide out easily. Quality of soap and shampoo were poor so bring your own. But for the price, it was very acceptable and I would stay there again. (not sure if all the rooms have.been remodeled.)

weekend getaway
The room was a little small for 2 people, no hot water in the vanity, but overall it was acceptible considering the cost. However, we were unable to get a smoking room.

Monterey Jazz Festival weekend
Small cozy, clean, rooms at this hotel, but they need to go to 2-ply toilet paper and upgrade other toiletries. No elevators makes it harder to get luggage to second floor rooms.
