Did a quick overnight in Monterey and were glad we selected the Holiday Inn Express at Monterey Bay. Very convenient location. Extremely friendly front desk staff - helpful, too. Nice clean room. Excellent value.

We had GREAT Italian food at the St Lucia restaurant in Monterey. Quick, attentive service. Address is 484 Washington St. Highly Recommend. We will go back there on our next trip to Monterey. They offer other fare in addition to the Italian dishes. Lovely atmosphere, too. Owner very present and engaged. It was a wonderful dining experience.

Little on the higher $$ for what it is. But I think prices in Monterey are on the high side anyways. Embassy suites next to it seem to be better and has indoor swimming pool. Next time we go, we'll check out the embassy suites. Other then that it was clean and we spent a good night

Monterey Mini getaway~
I choose this hotel by reading the reviews. The most important thing to me when staying at a hotel is cleanliness and that it was it even smelled clean. The beds were comfy with lots of pillows. We stayed in room 329 which was really nice it faced the lake and the last room at the end so no neighbors on our left. We had 6 in our room my 1 year old's pack and play fit perfect next to our bed since the room was small not what we are used to but staying for one night I didn't want to spend to much on a room. My 2 teens shared 1 bed and me and my husband and 7 year old were in the other we were all comfy. The staff was fantastic so nice and quick I called the front desk for a shower cap and another roll of TP and they responded so fast. The room didn't have a fridge, but I called and asked for one and they told me they have them but they are on a first come first serve basis and in less then 10 min they brought us a fridge. They also serve a good full continental breakfast cearel, pastrys, boiled eggs, pancakes, biscuits & gravy, eggs, yogurt, fruit, and cinnamon rolls which my husband loved. Lots of beverage choices too. We were less then 10 min from Cannery Row we visited the Aquarium which was fantastic can't wait to go back. I would stay here again and recommend this hotel for their cleanliness, fast and friendly service.

If you are looking for a good meal, nice view, and are on a $50 budget for a family of 5 with 2 adults 1 teen and 2 kids then eat at El Toritos on Cannery Row ask for a booth. We ate at Jhonny Rockets the first day and spent $65 incl tip. We spent $50 incl tip @ El Toritos Mexicain Restaurant with more food and a beautiful view of the Bay.

Good value in Monterey
The location was extremely convenient and WAY cheaper than nearby hotels (Embassy Suite next door was lots more/night.) There were 8 of us - 5 adults, 3 children ... got 2 rooms. Hotel is adjacent to a beautiful city park - with access to a nice hiking path around a pond. Lots of good bird watching! Only complaint was that the beds could have been larger (double beds) and the mattresses were pretty soft ....
