We were spending one night in Monterey, passing through and visiting the Aquarium. We looked for a budget motel as the Aquarium is pretty pricey. This motel met our needs. A place to shower and sleep. Beds were acceptable and clean. Room was
simple, with a small fridge and microwave. TV remote didn't work. The hotel sits on a busy boulevard. With the A/C running on high, the ambient noise created helped block out the sounds of traffic. Walls and floors seemed thin though. Parking is limited. There were packaged pastries and coffee at the desk in the morning when we checked out. That was unexpected and nice. Just behind the motel is a huge shopping center with lots of choices for restaurants. All in all, if you aren't snobby or rich and just need a clean bed, I would recommend this motel.
Hotel features (5 = best, 1 = worst):
Short drive from hotel
Parking is ridiculous near the Monterey Aquarium. Park in the downtown East garage for $7 and take the free trolley from the garage to the Aquarium. All in all you will save time not driving the streets looking for a parking space and eventually getting a ticket for parking wrong or not feeding the meter.
This was a temporary overnight stay until the following day when we would go to the heart of Monterey. The location was great but every thing else was mediocre. Parking was limited. They do provide a small fridge and microwave which is convenient.
I probably wouldn't stay again but it wasn't bad for the price.
Although from the outside this little hotel doesn't look like much, on the inside it was very clean and well taken care of. It has all the modern amenities and the staff were very nice. I travel several times a month to Monterey and will
definitely stay here again.
