- Built in 1907 by Italian stonemasons Hotel La Rose is one of the Historic Hotels of America. The hotel was registered on the National Trust for Historic Places and renovated in 1985. Improvements are ongoing and you will find conveniences in all 47 guestrooms such as two-line telephones with voicemail and data ports- high-speed internet access- cable televisions- marble and brass bathrooms- some with whirlpool tubs- 19 rooms surrounding the rose garden courtyard each have their own private patio or balcony- and all 47 rooms are individually decorated in the style of a European Bed and Breakfast. You may choose from 10 award-winning restaurants- including Josefs Restaurant and Bar in our lobby- all located within three blocks of the hotels front door. Each of our guests comes to the Hotel La Rose with particular needs and expectations- and it is our purpose to fulfill them. With two different- but equally well-appointed facilities- we are able to offer our guests a choice of the Main Buildings historic elegance and charm or the airy ambience of the Carriage House. Historic and convenient

Plush bed in a cozy room, but could use a small functional work area. Great and helpful staff. Very convenient to walk to several excellent bars and restaurants

Historic hotel is historic

I never fully understood what a "historic hotel" meant until now. Basically, it's like visiting your grandmother's house or going to a quaint hotel in Europe. We had a suite that included a sitting room, bedroom, and bathroom. All the furniture looked like original antiques with newer upholstery. The bathroom was antique style. There is an attached restaurant but it was in mid-transfer to a new owner and under construction when we were there. Hotel parking is one block away. There is no valet parking. The ice machine is only accessible by the hotel staff. There is no fridge or microwave in the room but, they have free Internet. The self-serve continental breakfast is extremely simple (toast, juice, coffee, tea, muffin, fruit, bagel). If you're looking for pancakes, waffles, or eggs, you won't find it here. We went to a local breakfast place instead. The hotel is located in the heart of the historic center of Santa Rosa. Everything is within walking distance. The bottomline is that if you're used to chain hotels, you may not like this one. If you're looking for some old world charm then, this is a great hotel.

Great hotel, friendly service

Clean, spacious rooms. Great continental breakfast included, with hard-boiled eggs and fruit. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They recommended a restaurant and when we arrived they were expecting us! We will definitely go back to this hotel.

Unique and enjoyable experience

Nice and quaint. Centrally located for wine touring; however difficult to get around in the city.

Lovely Gem of a Hotel

This is a lovely historic hotel, lovingly furnished and very much like a bed and breakfast inn. You can choose one ot two beds, which is rare for a B&B. The staff was helpful and gave us a coupon for two flights of wine at a nearby tasting enter. The location is wonderful, in the historic center.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

There are wonderful restaurants an easy walk from the hotel, and also great places to have a glass of wine or a drink, and some good hors d'oeuvres. In the evening, a couple of local places nearby have music, and there is a theater a few blocks away with two stages for live performances.

Charming, good value

just a quick overnight stay as we were visiting family in the area. We stayed in the carriage house which is across the street from the main hotel. It was charming and quiet with a nice balcony, rose along the perimeter of the courtyard by a fountain. A very good continental breakfast was served and the price was very fair.

Hotel La Rose

Hotel experience was adequate for our needs. Room was small, furniture ugly and tired, bed was old and not comfortable. The room needed serious work to make more attractive and comfortable.

Great place, fantastic food!

Great location, visitors center in the park across the street. Lots of small boutique stores and even a mall only two blocks away. Hotel restaraunt & bar were great plus there are a half dozen more within easy one or two block walk.
